    Default Not crazy about applique

I am having a tough time with applique. I have to do two blocks for my class.
I am having trouble hiding my stitches. I am using mettler poly sheen thread, thats what the instructor said to use, also a applique needle. I think I like piecing better Any suggestions?

Are you hand appliquing? If so, sorry, I don't know. I've only done a little applique and what I did was done by machine.

    Valerie,
Yes it's hand applique. We are learning everything by hand first and then onto machine.

It's very hard to explain hand applique over the net. Your best bet is to go to your teacher and ask her to show you one on one. Hand applique is easy once you know how to do it right.

You need to hide your stitches under the fold. When you p/u a tiny section of applique- be sure your needle doesn't come up through the top of the applique. ~~~~~ Up and down between the background and the inner fold only. You're a smidgen away from the edge.

    Can you use fusible web?

Cheryl, that doesn't sound too hard. I prefer the look of hand applique. I'll have to try your technique. Can't be any more difficult or time-consuming than this quilt I'm quilting.
