Woo Hoo! :o)
I have finally figured out what they mean by a scant 1/4" seam! Yesterday I made (2) 12 1/2" blocks and they came out PERFECT!
It did take me 5 1/2 hours to make 2 blocks
but I sure had fun and only had to rip out my very first seams as they were too deep. Then I started playing around and finally took the presser foot off the machine to actually look where the 1/4" mark is on my new machine and just kept the fabric to the left of it when sewing the seams!
Every cross seam and point matched up and I even had to square it up in the end! I usually never had any left over to trim off, rather I would be 1/8" short (or more) in many places.
So for anyone out there having the same problem I did, play around with your machine to get that 1/4" seam line down and S-L-O-W down. I um tend to have a lead foot when sewing
I used the button on my machine to slow it right down, so even if I floored it, it wouldn't go any faster LOL. I took my time with each and every piece so I didn't have to rip it out and do it over again and I still can't believe I did it!
Can't wait to cut out some more blocks today!

They are for a block swap on another site I belong to. I got Chelle's name and she has been a sweetie about it as I am about a month behind. So I made her 2 blocks instead of just the one.

Dee that's great. My machine does a scant 1/4 inch automatically. Chelsey's doesn't so I have to draw her lines for her so her blocks come out perfect. I can't stress enough how important a scant 1/4 inch seam allowance is when quilting.

I am just finishing up a beginners quilter class. One tip the instructor gave us was to put a small piece of masking tape on your machine to mark the scant 1/4 inch. Thats wonderful your blocks came out exact. I have made very good friends with the seam ripper! lol.
