    Question Is anyone quilting?

I made a couple of blocks for 2 charity quilts (that I'm making with other people). I used CJ's fabric frolic tutorial (see sticky above). I had to make mine a bit bigger, so that was fun adjusting the measurements. They both came out really pretty. I've already mailed them off, but if the women I sent them to post pictures (on another board), I'll post them here.

Other than that, I've been doing more sewing than quilting. I do want to get started on a simple wallhanging for my brother's birthday in July. I've had the fabric for it for a couple of years, and I've just never gotten around to it.

I haven't done any lately because I've been working on the garden. However, this afternoon dd and I plan on making a block for our $10 quilt. I also need to pin a quilted tablecloth I made so I can start hand quilting it.

I have a number of blocks to sew together for charity quilts and 2 quilts ready to send up north.

I finished Rebecca's quilt in mid-May. I found a UFO baby quilt that just needed the binding finished, so I did. I also made from scratch a scrappy block baby quilt, backed with fleece. It took less than two days.

Yesterday, I bought a bunch of stuff at thrift stores to make my dh a cowboy & horses quilt. He had this quilt as a boy, but it got burned by a woodstove when his dad took it ice-fishing. I'm replacing it (in throw-size) for his 44th birthday.

Each cowboy and each horse are appliqued onto a white background. Scrappy fabrics are used, and each cowboy has one horse that matches his fabric. You also embroider a lariat and spurs for the cowboys and mane and eyes for the horses.

Since the thrift stores were having big sales yesterday (Memorial Day in the US), I spent 99c each on lightwight, small scale plaid men's shirts. These will be used for the cowboys and horses. I also got one to make binding. For backing, I found a plaid flannel sheet that I will cut down. My total cost for materials was $15 - although I still need muslin and batting.

I will have LOTS of flannel sheet left over and also quite a bit of plaid shirting. I can use the shirting on the scrappy quilt I'm planning to make for our bed.

Additionally, I may never need to buy another button as long as I live. Lets see...eleven button down shirts, plus sleeves... equals LOTS!

After I get the Cowboy & Horse quilt done, I want to finished another UFO - It's Grandmother's Flower Garden - baby size. It's all cut, I just need to do the sewing.

I am thinking of putting a smilie face something together. MY sil is getting married again this summer and her theme is the yellow and black smily face. (yes she is extremely immature).

maybe a small wallhanging or something with different patterned yellows in smily design and quilted.

No, I have been working on a cross stitch for ds1's room instead. I want to make a quilt for ds2 at some point this summer though and have everything I need to make it.
