Art quilts anyone?...
Does anyone make art quilts here? Or design their own quilts? I've done some of this and am really enjoying it. Though I'm never quite sure where a project is going to end out or what it will look like!

Art quilts, no, but I would like to try it someday. I have designed a few blocks, but haven't actually made anything from them yet. Someday. When there is time. (Don't hold your breath!)

Hi quiltergirl! I'm just starting with them. I've done a crazy quilt one, just to practise technique. I'm working on a wallhanging that involves quilting, inset applique, goldwork, beading and insertion stitches to join everything. It will be interesting when it's finished. I'm a bit concerned about the goldwork taking over the piece visually. It's in the bottom border. I think I'm going to have to stylize it a bit to reduce the amount of gold there. I really want the main focal point to stay the main focal point. Wish I could figure out how to post a pic here. Will have to talk to DD#2 when she gets up today - if she gets up! LOL

Please post a photo of your project -- sounds cool.
I have been making art quilts for a long time, but still don't really have one set style. I do a lot of landscapes and sillouhettes. I'm not much into abstracts -- everything I do is fairly recognizable. I use lots and lots of different kinds of fabrics (never been a cotton gal) as well as embellishments. I also love beads. My latest new thing is photo transfer. Not big on what most people would consider to be "memory quilts" but I do often work photos in -- once I even used photos to create my own fabric
When it comes to art and especially quilting I never met a rule I couldn't break. I love to play around with new techniques and new ideas.
