Question about window quilts
I saw somewhere here about window quilts but cant find it so here is my question in a new thread.
Are the window quilts made so that you can raise them up to let in the sun. If they are not made this way how do you get them up to let the sun in?
I was thinking of making these for my front windows however those windows face east and I would like for the winter sun to come through to help heat the front room.

~I've made a couple of window quilts for a north facing room. I don't plan to let in light there . I've sketched out a design though, for a western window that can be rolled up and buttoned. I don't know if it'll work yet but I plan to sew 3 long tabs with butonholes on the back of the quilt about 12 inches from the top. I'll sew 3 buttons on the front. Then I'll just roll it up from the bottom like a sleeping bag, and button. But, my plan is not tested yet. Remember not to use batting in your window quilts because it will shift downward while hanging and create drafts. HTH!~

Here is another good 'story' on how a lady made 'old fashioned window quilts'.http://countrylife.lehmans.com/2007/...ilts/#more-131
