Finished these blocks last night
They aren't sewn together yet, but I thought they looked so cute, I had to take a picture!

They are so adorable! How do you do the multi-coloured centre part of the blocks? Do you sew the little pieces together into a big long strip then cut the corners? Or do you have to measure the strips and sew triangle pieces on the end? I can never figure out how quilt blocks work just by looking at them.

you did beautifully. I am very impressed.

do you know yet how you are going to quilt it once you have the backing and batting added? are there going to be sashes in between the blocks? I am loving it the way the corners are laid out as it is. I think the look just flows in such a fun way with bright beautiful happy colors. it's just great. (can't tell i like it, eh??)
great job.~~ Missy ~~

Thanks everyone! I'm blushing! It really wasn't that hard - here is the pattern. I love this woman's site. She has all kinds of really cool FREE patterns on her site.

I'm not going to do sashings, as I like the way the purple triangles compliment each other I'm afraid sashings would break it up too much.
I think I'm going to add a 1.5" bright yellow inner boarder and then a fun mult-colored bright batik outer boarder (like the top picture in the link above). I'll probably just quilt along the x's and in the ditch (I don't do much fancy quilting - wish I had a long arm machine!)
As for what am I going to do with it? Not sure, its smaller than I realized it would be - so I think its too small for my neice (she's 7). I'll probably either donate it to Project Linus or fold it up and put it away for our daughter (whenever we bring her home - from China).~Jessica

~Oh! So pretty! I've always wanted to make a strip quilt myself, although, I don't think mine will come out as straight as yours. Very nice job!~
