    Default Crazy Quilts

Has anyone made a crazy quilt? I have finished about 8 blocks in my crazy quilt. My blocks are each color themed (blue or pink etc) and has a lot of fancy embroidery stitches and other embellishments such as lace and buttons. This quilt really won't be to functional for use, probably more for display. I just work on these squares off and on, mainly when I am watching TV at night.

I've done several, but none with "blocks". I just do the entire quilt top - generally starting in one corner, and working my way up and across the quilt. I add lots of embroidery, but very little lace, etc. as I want my quilts to get used

I've done a lot of quilts but never a crazy one. I do think they are pretty. Please post a picture when you are finished.

    Default crazy quilts

I've done five, but without the embroidery. That would be great to learn. The first two I tried quilting with the other layers (batting and backing) but my stitches were too big to be attractive. Since then I've been tying them. They are fun to do, and like you, I work in squares. It all started with a wonderful vintage man's tie I found at a yard sale. All five have been made mostly with tie fabric, silks, rayon, acetate and polyester. So they're similar weight and shinyness. The only secrets are to wash them first to see if they'll hold up and iron them with starch and attach the pieces to a backing fabric as you work, as ties are cut on the bias.

I've done 2 but gave them both as gifts.

    I love love love embellishments!

Do you make 3-d fabric flowers. They are so much fun and great to do in front of tv.
