I have some sad news...and a question..
I posted a while ago that I was making a quillow for my friend's mother who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Well, she passed away last Friday
, and I didn't have a chance to give her the quillow. (We had plans to visit her, but she was in and out of intensive care, so that was just not possible)
Anyway, I'd like to give the quillow to my friend as a reminder of how much others loved her mom. Her mother was like a second mom to me, and I'm just so upset about all of this...I'd like to enclose a poem or sew on a label or something to "commemorate" (not the right word, but I can't think of the right one for this) her mother.
Suggestions anyone? Thanks.
Michelle

(((hugs))) chelle. i agree with everyone else. your heart will help you know what to say. it is very very thoughtful that you are giving this to the daughter. i would love something like that in that situation. especially knowing someone cared so much for my mom, that they would take the time and love to make something so special for her. you are a real sweetie!

I've seen some neat things done on "memory" quilts where they transfer a photo onto fabric. I was thinking a small one incorporated somewhere on the quillow might be a great comfort to Kim. I see custom sewing labels can be made too, if you have a brief message you'd like to say too. Or another idea might be attaching a message or photo or even a silk flower onto the quillow with ribbon.
Or of course, a card separate and the quillow as is. It truly is beautiful as it is. I think she will love it.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and ideas.
Sara, I have considered making something like that for her for Christmas or maybe her birthday. She has already mentioned that she'd prefer not to celebrate Christmas this year (understandably), so I am thinking that making her a quilt with a bunch of pictures (or even just one in the center) would be an awesome gift for her birthday in May. I'll wait a bit and then email her sister to see if I can get some pictures of her mom to use.
