Alzheimer's sucks, but that did make me laugh. My grandma didn't take things but she would rummage through her purse and other people's purses thinking they were hers. Well, in fact she knew they weren't hers and that's what confused hers, none of the contents were correct! She'd take out their contents asking everyone "this isn't mine....is it yours? Is this yours??" repeat..repeat.

So is Granny a bad seed? Did she steal in "real-life" before the Alzheimer's and the Alzheimer's set it in stone?

haha sorry I just saw this! No she wasnt a "bad seed" At least, she never admitted to stealing!

One of my uncles turned into a lying meth head and his son is extremely creepy and weird. Sometimes I forget to count them as family if asked who is all in it...

My wifes sister J. Yes, this one> Family drama

Her parents went on vacation once and she was left the keys to their house. The day after they left, she took her two kids over there and went thru the entire house looking for whatever. We believe she was looking for the will and taking "inventory" of what was in the house.

She had this all preplanned and told the kids when they got there: You know what to do.

So needless to say, she is not left alone in our home.

Well, some of my former music students would qualify here.

    Example 1:
Student at piano in my living room, student's brother in kitchen (supposed to be working on music theory sheets). My purse inside a kitchen cabinet. I hear the soft scrape of a chair, then tippy-tippy toe steps, then creak of a cupboard door. Student at piano playing louder and louder throughout. I stand up and head for the kitchen. Student at piano calls out loudly...'Where are your going'. I enter kitchen in time to see other student putting my purse back into the cupboard.
(of course my purse is no longer kept there, and I no longer have these students)

    Example 2:
Same thing happened with another student who I caught inside my hall closet, with money from my wallet which was in my jacket pocket.
(of course my wallet is no longer kept there, and I no longer teach that student)

    Example 3:
And then there was the student who 'needed' to go upstairs to the bathroom, but was gone so long I went to check. The bathroom light was on, the door closed, the fan running, but the student was on all fours crawling from room to room. Consequently, I put signs everywhere for all to see, and when that student needed to use the bathroom I counted to 10 loudly, while standing and staring at the locked bathroom door. By the time the year was over, I had him well-trained.

I never punished or told the parents that any of these students were sneaking and stealing. Instead, I used other measures over time to help them to realize their wrong-doing, so they would grow and change their ways.

As for family, one of my kids was troublesome for a while as a teen, but as an adult, he is a very responsible and hard-working person.

I have a nephew with a drug problem.
Once when he was at my house, he drank almost an entire bottle of cough syrup with hydrocodone in it.
Another time, he took money from my wallet.
He's been to rehab a few times and from what I've heard, he's clean now, but if he comes to my house at Christmas, I'm hiding my money and any drugs he might be interested in.

No, I am honored to be " Sister" to the man and woman who are my siblings. We havent lived in the same place since adolesents but we no eachothers haerts I am very pruod of them both.
There are 3 neices and one nephew we no eachother by site but only one neice that I have truly bonded with. Thanks to my sister, and that Rebecca and i share the Artistic bent.
Pruod Aunt moment- last spring I went to Baltimore for Rebeccas Graduatoin from Goucher Collage with a Fine Arts degree. It was wonderful to all be in the same place at the same time shooting love beems at eachother. Im not sayin those kids 19-28 are angles but they are all careing human beings.
I have some distant cuosins somewhere, thats all that remians of my family. With the exceptoin of My Beloved.
I do no abuot being violated by repeted burgularys tho. 3 yaers ago
the son of my closest neighbor burgularized my home 5 times. I'd watched him grow up. I'd hired him wen he got uot of jail and cuoldnt get a job. Im a fool I no. Yuo see I believed poeple cuold change deep down inside even if they had made bad mistakes. This yuong man was the best lier I've ever encountered. Anyways I was gone weekends, he fuond my 'Hidden" key, copyed and replaced it.
My loss over the summer was $2,100 cash (six yaers savings) and ruffly $2,000 in property. The State Troopers wer frequent flyers at my huose, but not very efective. I fuond uot from the detective months later that they new who was burgularizing me but" wanted to get him for a whole string of burgularys at once". Ultimately my phisical evidence convicted him of 31 counts of felony burgulary. He is at Attica State Penitentuary now 7-12.
My homeowners policy covered me for $700.00 It took me 11/2 yaers to relax enuogh to go to bed unarmed. Gawd what a nitemire that entire experience was.
I cant see ever trying to help a person who has ben convicted of theft agian.
..the one thing that after a little heeling time Kyle cuoldnt steel from me is my belief that some poeple can turn there lives aruond for the good. I believe in miricles that way-I am one.

Now in her late 20's, she should be past the rebel stage! Mother passed on last year (this started before that) father just kicked her out, brother has little to do with her- he is -almost- done paying off the $25k she put on his cc without his knowledge or permission. We had a BBQ last weekend, elected not to invite her, haven't talked to her in ages, don't trust her in my house. A real shame- the rest of the family is the type who would sweat blood for you if you need it, really responsible, caring people. I don't know what went wrong with her, but she's the polar opposite of her brother. We're through with her til she's proven she's changed her path- and even then it would be with reservations. You steal from your own Mom and brother who you're both very close with, to go shopping and out to eat, what next?
Not always the case, but more often than not, these are the people that have some secret "vise" Drugs, alcohol, gambling, shopping, etc. Tough love is in order ~ love them from afar & don't feel guilty about anything the master manipulators try to pull over on you. All of us have them in our family tree, but some are more obvious than others.
