my daughter got married
My daughter got married on July 30th. It was a very simple wedding as there was no money. No money for a nice venue, food, cake, honeymoon......
I was at work Thursday night crying because I wasn't more prepared.
It was a short engagement and just a month after I, myself, just remarried.
But God worked it out! A relative found out and brought a small cake and cupcakes to the mexican restaurant we were going to eat at after the ceremony. Another relative made party favors...simple but so elegant. The owner of the restaurant didn't charge for the drinks as well as the bride and groom's food was free! The parents of the groom sent them to the mountains for a couple of days for their honeymoon. I was so shocked!! More than the couple!! A friend of my daughter did the makeup and my younger daughter did her hair! She is just 13 yrs old and did a wonderful job!
To God be the Glory.............why was I crying when HE ALREADY HAD IT WORKED OUT!!Step 1 $207/1500
Step 2 Student loan $160.00 monthly
Schewels paid
Step 3 $252/$15000
Step 4
Step 5 1 child in college graduates 12/12
2 child $50.00
Step 6 $70,761/$93,000
Step 7 Build wealth & give.

And are they less married because hoards of money wasn't spent? Now, if they stick to the same ways in living they won't be in over their heads of debt, have excellent credit, maybe even own land later on.
There is nothing wrong with just getting married and not showing off for other people.

they are back from their honeymoon! No debt. I have a coworker who spent $30,000 on her wedding. Well, $20,000 on wedding and reception and $10,000 for the honeymoon. She didn't love the guy and just so happen to say it the morning of the wedding. Big fight and the wedding was cancelled. $10,000 honeymoon planned in Hawaii......nonrefundable.

Schewels paid
Step 3 $252/$15000
Step 4
Step 5 1 child in college graduates 12/12

My Mom used a whole year to plan my wedding-- she nearly killed herself even though I told her GO EASY! She's a crafty and creative lady, so she nearly created everything for the wedding (even all the bouquets). Thankfully we found a wonderful reception hall to take care of the party afterwards-- it was still stress for my Mom but not as much as making sure the ceremony was perfect.
I think your tears are more for the fact that your daughter is married and less about that she and her husband didn't spend like crazy on it. I think right now it might be difficult to see how you're relationship with her will change for the better-- it something new, a HUGE milestone for your daughter and as a loving Mom it is overwhelming for you.
I'm not sure how my Mom reacted after I was married-- hubby and I were off to our Maine honeymoon the day afterwards, which was an amazing gift to us from his parents. But I did do some crying myself during the honeymoon. I totally love my husband, but I was mostly sad about I was now more his wife than my parents' daughter. (I hope that makes sense)
My wedding day is a day I'll always cherish-- but I'm already looking on to the next milestones in our life together: buying a house, having children, and doing some more traveling. I know we'll need money for that, so I am very thankful we didn't go into debt for our wedding and honeymoon.
