Post Yes, Let's celebrate the Birth of Jesus, but what about the pagan traditions?

Most Christians do not know that the customs that hold so much warmth and happy memories for them have more to do with the worship of other gods than they do with the birth of Jesus.

Please consider reading these passages from the Bible: Jeremiah 7:17-19 and Jeremiah 44. Then read Jeremiah 9 and know that God does not take the inclusion of pagan idols lightly.

Lastly, these web pages may be helpful.

I pray that on Christmas Day you will worship and honour God and his Son, Jesus, the Messiah, who came into the world for our salvation, without the pagan encumbrances that have been tacked on to his birth, most probably at another time of the year. Brothers and sisters, please pray, praise and worship God alone! With your families, be joyful and thankful for His love and His blessings upon you, through Jesus (or Yeshua as He was called in Aramaic).

I have long known that the early church adopted the pagan holiday and called it Christmas. The same was done with Easter. I am not a Christian, but I do not mind sharing the holidays with those of the Christian faith. Happy Winter Solstice!

This was very interesting - I know it will ruffle some feathers - but I, personally, enjoy learning about all views. Regardless of its origin, Christmas has a darn good Spiritual premise and one that I believe in wholeheartedly- I love my fellow man no matter what his walk... merry Christmas, Happy Channuka, happy Winter Solstice, and love each other as your own...
