AArgh...I'm late to the party again! LOL

Anyhoo...today has been a bit of a bummer for us.

Started out to go to the credit union to withdraw a small amount from savings, to get us through to next payday (this was planned, as there was no paycheck this week due to the holidays). What WASN'T planned was the credit union folks, in their infinite idiocy, deciding to take both the day of the holiday (yesterday) AND today off! The place was closed. On a Saturday! What the heck?!?!

The long and short of it is that the trip to the credit union was 40 miles round trip, which used up most of my gas (and now no money for gas since the credit union was closed).

I purposely don't have ATM cards for the credit union accounts, because it's much easier to save money if I have to drive 40 miles round trip to access it. But since this was a planned trip, I was going to get the money, stop at the grocery store to pick up a few necessities, drop off some stuff at Goodwill, and to use a gift card we got for Christmas. But all of that went right down the tubes.

So now I don't have gas, don't have money for gas, don't have the necessities I planned to pick up, etc. Very frustrating. All other banks, and I do mean ALL in the area are open today. Even other credit unions are open today.

Yes, this was kind of lack of planning on my part, I should have had a little stash of money to work with, but I didn't. I just didn't expect the credit union to be closed for two days instead of just one!

    Ok, sorry, rant off.

I have been at home all day and managed to get quite a bit done. The grandbaby's crib has been received from a wonderful friend and has been cleaned up and will be set up tonight. I've done some food prep towards next week and will be ready to meet the non-LC food temptations head on. Made a big ol' crockpot of bean soup with the left over Christmas ham. Will take that to church tomorrow for the potluck we have every Sunday.

We stayed home most of the day. I did go to the grocery store and spend $41.27, which included veggies and produce, a beef roast, some close dated milk and a few other things. I will only need to get some milk and bread over the next two weeks. DH is going to the casino with my parents, which is ok when he went last time he won so he is going to be playing with their money. Hopefully he wins again! I did spend 31.00 at meijer, but I bought 4 long sleeved shirts and a sweater for myself. That is the first time since DD was born in 05 that I have really bought clothes for myself.

I will be staying in the rest of the evening with DD cleaning, doing laundry, and watching more Scooby Doo! Have a great Saturday everyone!

Mostly puttering around the house today and catching up on reading all the good info here at FV....planning to take the dogs for a walk this afternoon, and will probably do some knitting or crocheting.

I'm back at work today after about two and half weeks off. Oh well. It was swell while it lasted!

It's a tiny bit of a saving Saturday. I was going to drown my going back to work sorrows in a MacDonald's Macflurry on my way in, but packed a can of Big K and some pretzels instead. Sitting here trying not to think of ice cream.

I may stop by Walmart on the way home tonight. I need a thumb drive and a few groceries. Doc told me to eat a slice of cheese with some morning meds, and all my cheese is shredded, something that doesn't happen often. I guess I could always eat some with a spoon if I can't face Walmart after all.
