Saving Saturday - Dec 31/11 (NYE)
Good morning everyone

Woke up a bit stuffy - the weather has been flipping between cold and COLD and though I've been bundled up the entire time....I think something may be trying to invade my body. I'm not feeling 100% but I must carry on. I have guests coming over tonight to ring in the New Year with DH & I. (who's still sleeping in
)
Today on the to do list, things that didn't get done yesterday *sigh*
* sweep & vac the house (stairs included)
* mop the floors
* clean both bathrooms
* tidy up the kitchen (organize fridge too)
* prep the appies for tonight - as much as I can (mostly veggies)
* fold & put away laundry
* wipe down the couches
* clear the main hallway (drying racks are set up there right now
)
* clear the lv rm of boxes (DH got himself another Christmas gift last night
)
* hopefully squeeze in some 'relax' time and possibly a nap if time permits
looking at this list exhausts me....I need to take some sort of cold symptom relief meds and get cracking!
Have a great day y'all and have a safe and Happy New Year

Feel better, Libby!! You'll whip thru that list of yours in no-time.
I have been lazy this morning. I'm drinking coffee in bed, flipping thru channels, and surfing the web. The best morning EVER! And so far only 1 child has come in to say 'hello'!
Lovely.
I do need to get up and get everybody else going. We are heading in to town to pick up movies and snacks for our New Year's Eve party we are celebrating by ourselves this year. And we are SO excited. We have spent it for the last 4 years with the same group of people, and frankly, I would like to not see everybody drunk and loud to ring in a new year.
Today I need to finish taking down my Christmas decorations and put them away, and then sweep, vacuum and mop the floors upstairs. I am LOVING having a clean home. What a great feeling!
Happy New Year's Eve, everyone!

Today, I also will be taking down the Christmas decorations, and cleaning the house. We really arn't doing anything for New Years Eve....just the kids and I. We will probably eat snacks and watch the ball drop then all head to bed. I like it that way. No hangover in the morning, or dealing with drunk loud obnoxious people. Just spending quality time with the ones I love the most bringing in the new year that we will spend together anyway.

Libby feel better, hit the Vit C bottle.
We will be celebrating the New Year here at the house. Hubbs and I have not gone out in several years. I don't do drunks well, so it is much nicer just to stay home and celebrate it together. The night will tell if either of our youngest 2 will stop by or not. The oldest DD and her hubby will be spending it at their home also.

Hope you get to feeling better Libby
Working on laundry right now. Gonna start putting together my 3 bin laundry sorters I picked up last night. I'm hoping if I label them what clothes go in which side that maybe the kids will see it as a fun way to sort their clothes instead of just throwing them on the floor which is what they do now.
Think we're gonna spend New Year's at home this year - found out my brother isn't having his party after all. Gonna put some chicken baking and settle in to watch Walking Dead marathon with DH and the kids.Mom to DD (10)

Today I am heading out to the farmers market to buy discounted produce for the tortoises. Taking a $5 bill so that I am not tempted to buy more than I need, which will just go bad.
I am staying in tonight to not only save money, but also avoid the chaos and drinkers.
Going to work on a budget tonight and try to pare down some expenses. Maybe start a weekly cash system for the budget items I do have control over like groceries.
Maybe get into the yarn stash, fabric stash, and other boxes that are sitting in the garage and get some things ready to list on ebay or craigslist.
I also need to empty my change jar so that I am starting fresh for 2012. I just hate separating and rolling the stuff. There is no coin counter at my bank.
Has anyone used the coin machines that are at the grocery stores? How do they work?

Libby and Cab 54 get to feeling better soon.
The coin machines at the grocery store charge almost 10% fee to cash in your coins for cash. I've not gone the Amazon route, but I believe if you cash in for Amazon gift cards then no fee is taken out.

One thing with this cold thats going on its a 48 hour thing. I'm feeling better and wish your sniffles and aches go away really soon.
Today is a no spend day for me. Made Potato soup from left overs. Not going any where tonight. Hubby and i will watch the ball drop or we will drop first. Wanted to do yard work but my energy level just wasn't back yet. Ohwell. Need to redo the spice cabinet.If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal. Not to
people or things.

Thanks for the info
I wont be giving them 10%, thats for sure. I found a website that has the grocery store and Walmart listed in my town as having the coin machines. The only option to getting cash is gift cards, but none of the places they have listed are useful to me. Most are stores like GAP, Lowe's, etc. They do have Amazon also. When I started saving the change, my intentions were to use it pay down my car or put into savings. Gift cards defeat that purpose, (sigh)

I've always just taken it to my local bank. They have always done it for free.

Hope all those who aren't feeling well get to feeling better soon. Libby that list is long, do what you can and let the rest go. No one is going to know if you cleaned your refrig or folded the laundry...drink lots of fluids (a glass of wine might help lol)...hope you all have a good New Year...we don't celebrate...hubby will go to bed and I might stay up to watch the new year come in since I am usually awake at that time anyway...having a hard time sleeping lately...Have fun everyone..be safe.
