Scrapbooking 101?
Ok, I may get into scrapbooking. *LOL*
Tell me what to start out with first. I know I am the type that will end up spending way too much, but I have really wanted to jump in and do this.
Give me the run down on important tips and starter items.

First I would recommend going to some scrapbooking sites to read about how other people make their layouts. This way you can see what you like and how much time/effort you would like to put into it.
There are several sites that you can look at. I personally like these:
http://www.dmarie.com
http://www.twopeasinabucket.com
http://www.scrapnetwork.com
http://www.gracefulbee.com
There are many more, but these will start you off. You can order supplies online from them too.
Next, I would decide which size scrapbook you'd like to make. The two most popular sizes are 8 1/2" x 11" and 12"x12" Whichever you decide to work with is a matter of personal opinion. I personally like the 12" x 12" book because it allows me to get more on a page.
The only supplies that are a must are: pictures (obviously
), some kind of adhesive for your pictures, paper to put the pictures on, and an album to store your pages. The rest of things you see are really nice but are not really necessary.
Scrapbooking is a hobby where you can spend a fortune or very little. It all depends on what you like and what you can afford.
Ebay is a good place to get scrapbooking supplies for reasonable prices...sometimes even really cheap!
The most important thing to remember is to use acid-free and lignin free products, or your pictures will be ruined.
I had lots more to say, but I'm babbling at this point. LMK if you have any questions!

I have a dull but special scrapbook of all the letters and cards Gabe and I have exchanged since we met. Right now I have them in scrapbook sleeves and some attached with photo corners.
It's a huge scrapbook binder. I would like to sometime make it more attractive to look through.
Thanks for the tips. I am not sure if I am quite ready to jump in, but I am interested. With my goal for this year being buckling down and saving, I am apprehensive on adding something that would encourage me to spend.
I may put some scrapbook supplies on my wishlist and start collecting supplies and take it from there though.

Don't forget that there are tons of things around the house too that can be used in your scrapbooking!
If I can find the link I will add it here...someone posted a link eariler on another thread.
I have chosen to do 12X12 pages...I can get more onto a page and have more room to make the pages as i want to , and I can add more pics per page. Although sometimes less is more...
But I don't yet have a ablum to put my pages into. LOL, I just jumped on in to the pages themselves, there's always time to get the albums later
Some of the basic supplies are decorative, and straight edged scissors, rulers, variety of markers, colored pencils, some papers (acid and lignin free, archival helps too) adhesives (glues, tapes etc, photo corners).
lots of people use stickers, stamp pads & ink, charms, and on and on, there's not much that doesn't go into a scrap book page.
I find it so much fun to scrap, and to preserve memories visually and in written form on a page is very gratifying.
I could go on and on.
