I love my friskars paper trimmer. it is great. I like my colluzzle too. Colluzzle is a paper cutting system that uses premade designs on templates. you use the provided swiveling x-acto knife to cut (in much the same manner as one would stensil a line drawing). You can cut out any number of shapes, make perfect graduations of matting...you can have a heart shaped picture cut, then make perfect heart shaped mats for it, you can use it to make frames for pic to use on your pages. You can use it to make your own "die cuts" of a sort. There are tons of templates, and all sorts of things you can do. I love them.

    hope that helps.

How easy is the coluzzle? I have a fiskars and it's quite hard to use, I LOVE the shapes but it does drive me mad sometimes.

I LOVE my eyelet punch and setter and Journalling Jenie software.

Oh actually I could probably go on for ages, I LOVE using all those little bits and pieces

Bev, So far I only own one that makes circles, ovals, squares and rectangles. It is fairly easy to use. You place the tip of the xacto in the guides and follow the guide around the template. it is plastic, so if you nick yourself with the blade it won't stain! (ask me how i know this ) Well where was I? yes, it is easy to use and I really enjoy using it. you can get the different colluzzle templates, in all kinds of designs...bears, hearts, diamonds, and so on. They are fun and highly addictive. I have like i said, only a few, but my LSS lets you come in and use theirs.

I've been looking at the coluzzle cutter and now one has come up on eBay that I'm watching.

What does it do exactly? I thought originally that it cut die cuts but might be easier than the fiskars. But I've just seen a pattern book as well and the circle template, for example, has about 8 different circles on it and they have used it to cut all of them to make a tri-coloured card. (are you still following me? LOL)

So is it for cutting dies or something completely different

Under normal circumstances I'd buy it and find out but I don't have money to 'play' with right now I know I must surely NEED one LOL but I'm not sure how badly now. - ohhhh HELP me. I'm confused (again )

Exactly? Well, you lay the template over your paper, pic or whatever chose which size of the shapes on the templates you would like to use, and use the template with a swiveling knife to cut out shapes, you can do circles with the circle template, ovals with the oval one etc. They have bears, hearts etc, you can do things similar to die cuts, but not quite. you can do different sized shapes as long as the template has the different sizes. so you can use the circle one to make circles in 8-9 different sizes. from one template, following the guides int he template with your swivel knife.
    Clear as mud??

    er..... yeah ROFL.

It 'sounds' very much like the fiskars (but easier!)

But when I looked at the templates they don't appear in the pictures to be complete. What I mean is, the circle, for example, looks like two semi-circles that don't completely meet.

And the pattern of the card I saw seemed to confirm that. So I was wondering if they did cut shapes or were for patterns.

I'm not making any sense myself now LOL - Maybe I'll have to go back to plan one and buy it and see (Oh what a shame )

Oh ~BTW - Thanks Melissa, sorry I'm so SLOW!!!

Mine is definitely Perfect Layers (bought from QVC) ... I don't scrapbook without them. I do use a rotary cutter with the *rulers* as opposed to the cutting blade it came with - just works better for me.
