I've bought most of mine to date, but I've also made some using the Coluzzle.

I really need to get back into my scrapbooking.

I get my origionals at the store. Often they are not in the color i would like, so i also buy a sheet of carstock in colors i would like. then i take the die cut origional and trace it onto the paper in the color i want. I repeat the process on other papers to creat a sort of paper piecing project, so that parts of the design can be layered in different colors. Example: I get a blue bus from the store. I want my bus yellow with grey windows. Well, I lay my blue bus on the yellow paper. trace and cut, cut out windows too. trace blue bus on the grey paper, trace cut. lay the yellow bus with the cut outs on the grey paper. Now your yellow bus has grey windows showing through the cut out sections in the yellow paper.

I made all mine for ages, I bought the Sizzix machine.

I couldn't justify having it though really, so I sold it again when I needed the money.

I still make them though with the fiskars - I like to be able to choose my own papers

You 'could' make them with regular stencils and cut them out, but of course it would take more time.

Another way to make them that I didn't think about this morning when I originally posted is to trace around shaped cookie cutters. I've done that a few times and they turned out really cute.
