as promised, another altered book page
I promised another altered book page. This book I am working on will be a book all about our vacation to Maine this past Summer. This specific page layout is about Cadillac Mtn, in the Acadia National Park, near to Bar Harbor Maine. I am not yet satisfied with the result. it needs something. But this will do for now. I covered ovre the type on the page with small sheets of card stock. Other pages won't have the type covered. Altered books are great because anything goes.
If you decide to do one, please visit thrift / second hand stores, even though there are "alter-able" books sold at retail stores. They are a wealth of great hardcover books that would otherwise be discarded. Choose a book that has an interesting look, one that you like the look of. In my experience the books in retail stores seem to not be thick enough, and don't offer the inspiration to create. Sometimes you can even find one with a title that fits in with what you plan to do with the book. And remember it is art, anything goes. It is a personal expression, your own creativity, anything you do will be fantastic.

That looks good Melissa, I'd like to see a page that you left almost original too. (sometimes I have trouble with those
)
I didn't even know they SOLD altered books! That's obseen (sp?) (I'm tired this morning LOL) Anyway it seems to defeat the object a bit eh?
I bought a book last year at a car boot because it was shaped like a bottle, it has shiny cardboard cover but I've read you can sand them down and still use them. The problem is I still can't decide what to do with it LOL

Bev I have a few ideas for a page that will be left almost "as is" I just have to find a few more supplies.
Isn't it craziness that they sell books to alter?? The one i saw had no type in it at all!! I was stunned in the store looking at it. Am I a little uptight??
Thanks everyone!

I think that is a total waste of money!
And to me it completely takes away what the craft is all about
It's just another way to con money out of people.
I have to be really careful now or I'll jump on my
LOL.
I really MUST think of something to do with my bottle book or that would be a waste too LOL.
I'd be interested to see your original pages when they're ready.
