belly mache

Anyone hear of this?? What it is, is you take paper mache and do a mold of a pregnant tummy. Same as kids do in school when they make paper mache casts of their faces to make masks, etc. You do a paper mache belly, let it dry, then you paint it however you like. Or let your older children paint it. Sounds like alot of fun to me. Anyone try it?

Haven't done it nor heard of it. What would you use it for?

nothing, just for fun, and as far as getting the kids to do it, it would be interesting in the sense that they could deorate it with what they thought they'd see if they could see into mom's belly to see baby. Good for imagination and a good hand on, tactile experience.

They hard cast belly casts i have seen this done in are used to decorate the wall of a baby room. some are quite beautiful. let me see if i can find a link to the hard casts. Give you an idea what the mache ones are all about since they are along the same lines, same purpose same idea, different medium.
