Drawing Lesson
Ladies,
I've always held a firm belief that anyone, given interest and practise, can draw. It's just a matter I teaching your eye to see what's really there instead of what your brain thinks it sees. Then, of course, you have to get your hand to cooperate with your newly trained brain...hehehe That may sound complicated, but it's really not!
With that idea held closely to my heart, I would like to start a weekly thread on drawing. Each week an excercise would be posted and then the students would post their results. We would then tell each other what works and what didn't work. Positive learning experiences, the good and the bad, are essential to developing artistic skills.
BTW: I dont' want to hear anyone say they can't even draw a straight line, cuz guess what....Ain't no such thing!! hehehehe
If you're interested, reply to this post and I will pull out my art books and see what I can come up with..
I would love to share what I do with my village family!
I will check this thread tonight when I get home from work.
Graci

I'll give it a try. I like to draw.. have all the gizmos for it.. you know a pencil and paper.
But I don't make anything worth looking at.
Hope that changes real soon though !!

ok...I'll start the first thread on Monday. I work Big K on Saturday's and Sunday's or I'd start sooner.
Cheryl and Missy: If you want to pm me and give me a little background it may be helpful. Do you have any training...high school...college...self taught? That sort of thing.
Here's a list (small) of what you'll need to start:
Pencil...paper...eraser...ruler and a means to show us your work....scanner...camera...etc.
After you've gained some experience, you may want to expand upon your tools but for now, a sharp #2 pencil will do nicely.
If you can, see if you can find the book:
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain: By: Betty Edwards
Your library may carry it or be able to find it for you.
I'll see ya, Monday!
BTW: There is no dead line...anyone can jump in at any time. All are welcome no matter what level you are! I've only been drawing people for a year. I'll post my first drawing and you can see the difference a year can make. I'll set first and last next to each other on Monday. It's after 11pm here and I'm wooped. See ya Monday!

Thanks Gracie--- I'd love to be able to draw. . . however, my stick men even look wrong. I'll be following along to see I can improve, and do something at least passable.

Ok, ladies...this is just to make sure you saw the post for drawing class. I put it in the general hobby area. You don't need to spend a lot of time on this. just take a half an hour and try. This exercise is just to give you a baseline for comparison.
Can't wait to see what you do! Please post your work by Friday, so that we can talk about them. Remember, I work on weekends!
