Gifts w/ Photos Ideas??
I am new to scrap booking. For Christmas Gifts for my mom & MIL this year I want to do something with photos. My mom has collections of photos that she hasn't put in photo albums & I'm trying to think of gift ideas using some of her photos. Maybe organize some of them & put into albums for her, or a scrapbook of some kind, or frame a few, special ones.
I have 2 prom dresses that my MIL wore in the 50's. I am having them pressed & photographing my 2 daughters in her dresses as a gift to her. There's got to be some scrapbooking stuff I can use to creatively frame the photo.

If you iron waxed paper to the back of muslin or other fabric and cut to size, you can put it through your printer. . . .
I do this and then make throw pillows, quilts, etc. from the photos.
Calendars, clock faces, notecards and refrigerator magnets are easy to do. You can buy iron on transfer paper and make T-shirts, etc. Or you can make a tote bag with clear vinyl pockets and put copies of the pictures in them. You can send copies of pictures to various photo places and have them made into jigsaw puzzles, if she likes that sort of thing.
A DVD slideshow of the pictures is nice too--- then she can just pop it in the computer or TV and have the pictures scroll whenever she wants. We did that for my parents 50th anniversary, and my dad still puts the DVD in the TV to watch the old pictures

Well, DUH! I didn't even list the things I'm doing with photos for gifts this Christmas. . . . I used mostly scenic pictures for these, that my dd and I have taken this year.
Postcards-- just printed them out on my computer, found a template for the back, somewhere online.
Bookmarks-- used a photo editing program to crop the pictures to size, added text (Scriptures and inspirational quotes). Used yarn for tassels.

I am doing marble magnets for my family using family photos that I have printed out and added to the magnets. I have a set done for my Dad of him and all his siblings as children and then as adults and one of Grandmother and one of my Grandfather. They turned out great and were really cheap to do.
Denise, I would love to do a quilt using your wax paper and printer recommendation. I just have a quick question, is the ink colorfast on the muslin and can you wash it?

By itself-- the ink isnt' colorfast on muslin-- you can buy stuff at JoAnn's, etc that will set the ink. . . for wall hangings, etc. I don't bother. . for anything that would need washed, I buy it. . .it runs about $5.99/bottle and each bottle will set enough squares for a full sized quilt.
