Broken China Jewelry
I found something unique and cheap this morning while thrift shopping. Our area Battered Women's Shelter has a thrift store, and they sell unique jewelry made by their clients out of chipped, and broken china dishes. They are chips of the design fashioned into necklaces, pins, bookmarks. They are embellished with beads and ribbons, and sell for only $10 each. You can even take your broken dish to them and have several pieces made for you and your loved ones, or just donate your broken dishes for them to make and sell. They sell them at the thrift store and at festivals and craft fairs.
Isn't that COOL?
The package comes with a little card explaining that when the china gets broken/damaged, it can still be beautiful and useful.
When the lady was talking about it to me, I teared up!

DH once bought me a little jewelry box made out of broken china from the Ming Dynasty. It's so pretty.
I'll bet the jewelry is beautiful and unusual! I love things like that.Last edited by The Muse; 07-22-2008 at 02:45 PM.

What a great find! Sounds like it would make a wonderful gift too. I love the recycling aspect as well as helping women in need.

That would be wonderful. I would buy from them. I enjoy supporting battered women's shelters.
