    Default "Trash pickin"

So Greebo's company/client is moving their offices and in the great pack up he has scored:

    Pens (cheap but usable)
A full box of old letter head for me to use for my printed calendars, menus, etc.
Two coffee carafes! (I'm excited about this because we take coffee to the reunions and can use them for hot cider and coffee at our parties.)
    Extension cords x3
    Power supply strips x2
The Free Spirit Saver who walks the path with Greebo.

Onboard with a modified Dave Ramsey Plan
Budget: "Every month! On paper, on purpose!"

Gardening somewhere between Zone 6b and 7a.

Isn't it amazing what people will leave behind. You know they're going to have to replace that stuff. Better in your hands than the landfill. Enjoy it.

That's one of the reasons I love cleaning out homes. So very much good useable stuff comes my way.

Yeah baby! I was walking down the street the other day when one of my neighbors asks me if I would like to go through her boxes before she brought them to SA. They were full of mint condition boy clothes and shoes and since I have two little boys the right size ----- ummmm YEAH I will take 5 minutes and score two years worth of FREE shoes and clothes. Good job on your score!

Congrats. I love finding stuff like that. I also like going to garage sales that are CHEAP. We got a 12 VC Andrews books, 4 christmas baskets, one easter style basket, cordless phone, caboodles box, AND vision wear cooking set (big pot with lid, 2 pc in oven casserole set with one lid, fry pan with lid) for $8 the other day. The phone won't charge but we got TONS of stuff for that $8.

That is one of the few things I will miss about living in our apartment complex - the dumpster were a great source of many free things over the years (highlights include tupperware, my bread machine, my swiffer, and a 2' x 3' whiteboard). We've actually starting leaving things we can't use outside the dumpster (if it's usable, but not really SA appropriate, like half a package of Swimmer diapers) and hope that someone else gets them. We have seen other people picking through there before.

Two days ago they had an Electrolux vacuum (I checked it out - $150 new, $85 for refurbished on Amazon) and a Schwinn stationary bike - too bad we didn't need them.

This is one thing that is so hard for me.
I will see something I really want at the curb and it takes me 20 minutes to get the courage up to get out the car and get it, when I do I rush as fast as I can in the hopes that no one notices me.

AnnK - I can see you in all black sneaking over to the dumpster to get the things you want from it. LOL

LOL AnnK...I am the same way. This is where DH's nature comes in handy...his philosphy is "it is discarded and they don't want it, I want it and it is free and if they don't like it they can turn their back for the few seconds it takes to grab it or don't leave it out" We or I should say he snagged some really go finds with that kind of courage.

Love the free stuff. One thing I do enjoy about apartment living is the dumpsters.

Gee, I should invite some of you over here! I am de-cluttering my kitchen and, get this, I'm getting rid of Tupperware!!! Yep, I just don't need the 40 round spice containers anymore. We have a big kitchen, but I am downsizing, and I have no room for round containers. I'm getting rid of ten at least...have to break myself into this. No one gets rid of Tupperware! Right???!! Oh well, there's always a first!
