Default Tell me about your very best 2nd hand deal ev.er.

I think for me it would have to be a huge bronze statue that we bought at an auction. It's a Remington, called Buffalo Hunter. We lurve that thang (can't move it though....I swear it weighs 500 pounds). Next?

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

I recently bought a treadmill for $20. I think that's my best deal so far.

The bike I found on the side of the road that DH fixed up for me (in my avatar). It only cost us some time, elbow grease, and a nominal amount for paint and parts.

    The handmade wooden rocking horse

My neighbor made one before I had kids. He made only two a practice one and the one for his grandson ( for an heirloom). Yes he was that good. He made and sold wooden things for a living and they were all pass down quality. Like a small wooden truck for $20 dollars. I had always thought the horse was beautiful and wanted one when Hubby and I had children. He said he was never going to make another. They were to hard to make. He did end up selling the practice horse to someone for mega bucks.

Fast forward a few years And my first born was 1 1/2 years old. The very horse he made ( the practice one) that I saw him make and drooled over was in the Church Yard sale for $10. Both my children have loved it. We are saving it for my Grandchildren.

My very best deal is the beautiful quilt I bought at an estate sale for $40. It is queen size, completely hand sewn, hand quilted Grandmothers Flower Garden in 1930's fabrics. I had a quilt appraiser take a peek at it and she said it was made in the late 30's or very early 40's...all the points meet, the quilt is in perfect condition. she said it's worth about 500!!!!!

My mother and I went to a yard sale and there was this purse that I really liked, but I felt since I already had one I didn't need another, but I told my mom that if it was still there when we were leaving I was buying it. I did buy it and later I was putting my stuff in it and noticed behind the little mirror in the organizer part paper was sticking up, I couldn't get it out so I got some tweezers and got it, it was $40. I paid .50 cent for the purse. That was a good deal.

Wow there are so many over the years.

I bought a Vintage Woolen Nurse's Cape (from probably WWII) for $10 and sold it on ebay for $167.00. Things like that allow me a little freedom in my spending money.

Here is a good example, my dad and I went to go see CATS (the musical) and I wanted the soundtrack and the DVD. Well they were both $40, each, at the show (I did buy a shirt). Well, the VERY NEXT DAY, I found the dvd for $3 at a thrift store. It was actually a different one then the one at the show, it was a 2-disc with all sorts of extras. Then later I found the complete show CD 2-disc for $4. Nice! Savings of $73 dollars! HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL!

Nothing else comes to mind right now.

    Thumbs up

I am not sure this counts but, the best deal I get has to be at the Brownberry bread outlet store. I get good bread for one dollar a loaf. I also get thomas english muffins for twenty cents. It keeps well in the freezer. They also have other specials depending on what is on ad for a given week.

Years ago DH bought an old black Dodgefor$200. It had push-button automatic transmission, A/C, electric windows. The only thing we did besides new tires was new shocks. We had it for YEARS!!!. When thr reverse gear went out we sold it for $50.
