Default What do you hunt for at thrift stores?

What do you hunt for in particular at thrift stores? Do you have any goals in mind in particular? I have a penchant for old books, and useful kitchen supplies. I've gotten some great vintage clothes, too. All my favorite things, come to think of it, are second hand!

Well I said books in the poll, but the main item I look for is records. I found a double album set of The Platters a few years ago for .25 cents. It had never been opened!!!!

Second hand books are my fav. But I also look for scrapbook supplies, and kitchen storage containers like tupperware, and kitchen gadgets such as from pampered chef.

I found a sample book for shear curtain panels recently. They were little miniature curtains, each in a frame. I carefully tore them out and am using them as scrapbooking backgrounds. I also found wonderful books that I gave as Christmas gifts. Found some like-new tupperware, the huge square containers, that are so great for storing items in the basement. I also look for ties for Hubby; he like ties with animals on them. I LOVE thrift stores!

I forgot to check off books on the poll!

The decorative items ... only some. For example, I don't much care for figurines. But I found some nice Christmas stocking holders today.

I chose other. I was not sure if we could choose more than one...

We mostly look for books, band t-shirts & jeans for the girls, clothes for the boys (esp jeans & pjs), and toys. Always looking for collectible toys & legos.

Books ~ cookbooks specifically and some kitchen stuff.

    I STILL love Williams-Sonoma, though

I love vintage style and mostly look for anything that catches my eye...clothes, purses, kitchen stuff, vases, furniture. Whatever I fall in love with. I also look for things I'm considering buying new, like I know I'll need a waterbath canner this summer, so I've got my eye out for one.

I mostly look for unique decorative items. My most recent find was this gorgeous creamer server which will likely be used as a vase this summer. You can see a large picture of it here http://songbirdtiff.blogspot.com/200...uff-b-52s.html

Without trying I seem to have started a collection of little creamer pitchers. All sizes, shapes and colors. In the fall I put out on a shelf in the kitchen a black one, a cute pumpkin colored one, and a yellow one. It was cute and cheap! So my eye is drawn to pitchers.

I have way too many baskets, but one that is especially prim or unique would prob have to come home with me.

I love changing curtains and have enough white/ecru battenburg lace toppers to do pretty much the whole house so this spring/summer I am putting them all up. Most were $1 or less per window.

I just got a beautiful battenburg lace dust ruffle for my bed. DD found it at SA and it was $4.99, looked new! Got up to checkout and it was 1/2 price on that color tag! I was thrilled!

~The first two things I always search for are vintage screw back earrings and fabric/patterns/sewing supplies. Then I hit the clothes racks. ;-) ~

I look for all kinds of things so I picked other on the poll. I have a thing for baskets, old looking, just can't have to many baskets. Anything primitive, or something that can be made to look primitive.
I also look for clothes, and shelves. I got lucky yesterday and picked up some neat looking hats that will become wall decor, and two really awesome baskets. I just love looking. And I can always find a nice piece of furniture or two.....(smile)
