    Default Free Stuff!

Funny thing how sometimes it was like things were meant to be:
Realized I have so much jewelry ( costume and nicer stuff) that I need to organize it better. Figured would pop into Goodwill sometime & get a jewelry box. Also the drawstring on a pair of my "good" sweatpants broke. The pants are fine though and are fairly new (Goodwill) & suitable to be seen in public in. I had nothing in my sewing box to replace the drawstring, so figured would get a pair of shoelaces to suffice. Sooo, I am dropping my recyclables off a that local bins we have here & found just what I needed.
People will prop items up by the bin and recycle them on to someone else. So someone left a wood mini jewelry armoire box propped up , in perfect shape. And in it was filled with a bunch of silver earrlings, watches, novelty items, and lots of costume jewelry & a pair of brand new, long pink shoelaces....perfect as a drawstring for the ol' sweats. Made me smile.
I cleaned up the jewelry, mostly costume stuff suitable for a teenage girl ( but did keep a few pairs of cute earrings) and gave it to my daughter. One of her friends has 2 girls who will enjoy the items. Nothing wrong with them. I know it seemed weird giving a quart ziploc baggie with "found" jewelry, but I did soak all the items in jewelry cleaner and clean really well, so should be OK and hygienic I figure.
Anyway, free jewelry box and my sweatpants are wearable now!

That's awesome claimsgirl66! What a nice surprise. I find that I get a certain feeling (or calling from Goodwill) and when I get there, I find the best stuff!!

    Great find.

I am like that too Debbie, I get a feeling to pop in to goodwill or whatever and usually find something.

Just a little warning, but in Indiana it's considered theft to take anything in or around a thrift store donation box. The reasoning is that things dropped off become the property of the thrift store, and taking them is the same as pocketing and not paying for an item INSIDE the store.

The laws may be different in other states, though.

that's right milly and someone in my town (southern indiana) was just arrested and prosecuted for stealing from the st.vinny's donation site....

however you may take from the dump here... i got a great wooden swing.... we don't have true 'dumps' only collection sites...if someone has something really great they 'set it aside' for others to take....it's expected....

In good times and bad, Goodwill has always been cool! I've gotten many of my small appliances, 3 vaccum cleaners, tv stand, framed pictures, sets of dishes, cameras, not to mention designer clothes all from the neighborhood GW. My dad and I play tag team some days. We'll call each other from the store if we see a bargain that we know the other would be interested in. Good job on your find!!! That's my kinda deal. I got excited just reading your post!!
