    Default Having a pioneer day

We're having a kind of pioneer day at our school. I'm going to take old timey photos of our kids. I went to two thrift stores today and I bought:

    2 long floral print dresses
1 white pillowcase which I'll make into aprons
2 lace curtain panels which I'll use for shawls

2 flannel, checked shirts for the boys
    2 neckties
    1 drab suit coat

I plan to bring hats, a toy rifle, pitchfork or hoe, basket, etc. as props for the pictures.

I still need some type of bonnets for the girls to wear.

I also donated a ton of stuff to the thrift store (most of which I bought there to begin with)LOL.

No, you need to use sepia tone to get the poineer look!

Bonnets are so easy to make! I'm sure you can find a tutorial online for them!

I just got a book at the library on old time poineer crafts. It was tons of fun to look through and gave me great ideas!

Have fun and be sure to post some of the pictures of you...becuase I'm sure your going to dress up right?

Check with the school about the toy gun. . . some have zero tolerance for any weapons, or weapon mimics.

Good idea. The gun I'm thinking of is a toy from Mt. Vernon that DS bought as a souvenir, but still...

Yes, I'm going to dress up! I can't wait!

The 8th grade is giving tours of the museum (old stage coach stop) and community members are setting up at the park. Kids will rotate through different stations. It'll be great! Hoping for good weather!
