Default My friends first visit in 2nd hand store

I regulary shop thrift stores, but while out with a friend of mine yesterday I stopped in a thrift store with her. It appeared she's never been in one before. She appeared to have the 'ick' factor going on. I needed a pair of rubber boots for my dd and didnt want to pay full price. So anyways I found a pair of dirty old pink rubber boots that fit her, threw them in my buggy. Thinking they are only going to get dirty anyway - thats what rubber boots are for (insides of them were clean). The boots were $1.99. Found dd a pair of no name crocks for $1.99 - new condition, tossed them in the buggy. Then I said, with some hesitation - not knowing what my friend would think, that I was going to go look at the ladies clothes. I found a tshirt to try on (turned out it didnt fit right), then my friend actually started looking and tried on a shirt!! I nearly fell over. She ended up making a purchase for her dd in the end. When I got home I took some powder dishwasher soap and a rag and scrubbed the rubber boots I bought for dd and they came out clean in near new condition

my mom was like that until recently...not that she thought anything was 'wrong' with thrift stores...she just didn't think to go in one...
so when she visits me i take her thru the rounds...1st time she was kinda aloof about it....standing back watching me... then when she started complimenting me on different things in the house and my standard response "st vinny's, goodwill, salv army..oh-that one...garage sale...."
she started to get 'interested'..... now when she comes to town she wants to know 'when' we are hitting the thrift stores....and she is actually making purchases.... woohoo.... (now if my brother and sister only knew.... they would be freaking out....) lol (they didn't inherit THOSE genes).....

STOP THIS RIGHT NOW! The more you teach people to shop at thrift stores, the less good stuff there will be for those of us who've known aobut them all along!

    LOL true I suppose

I always chuckle when she tells me what she believes to be a good deal on something ie. shirt on sale for 'only' $15 ... I secretly think in the back of my head I would buy 3 or 4 for that price

Reminds me of a girl I once knew who stated she would have a yard sale but would never be caught dead going to one. Hmm... After her second divorce, I've seen her a couple times shopping at yard sales. I've heard it said that it's easy being at the top but it sure is hard to fall to the bottom.
