    Default serendipity

My youngest son left his bike in the park last year, and when we went to get it the next day it was gone. Now that the weather is nicer he is in need of a new bike. I checked out Target, Walmart, Kmart, and ToysRus, but all the bikes were either 1) over-the-top themed bikes (can't stand that) or 2) expensive. While in the area, I decided to stop at Salvation Army (I try to stop in whenever I'm in the areas), and lo and behold, there was a bike just his size! It was a little rusty and had a flat tire- but heck- it was only $15 compared to the cheapest I'd seen new- $40. Next to it was another bike- almost in new condition for $20 that would work for my oldest son. Yay!

My twin girls are outgrowing their trikes- knees knocking on the handlebars. I went searching online for a decent (non-themed) bike for them. I found one that was reasonable, but at it'd be $80 for 2- not quite the price I wanted to pay. I decided to google the name of the bike to see if I could find somewhere cheaper. One of the first links to show was a Craigslist add for 2 of the same bikes for $15 each- and in great condition. The poster was in RI (I'm in MA), so I called my mother to see if she knew any of her co-workers who lived in the area that could pick them up for me; she didn't, but offered to get them herself. Woot!

I love it when things work out just the way they should. Four new-to-us bikes for 4 kiddos all for $65.
