From Thrift Shops to Consignment Shops
Ok...well I purchased a few great pieces from a local thrift/goodwill store for a $1 a piece in a bag sale. They were excellent quality items. Some of them, however didn't work out for any of my family members so I took what didn't work to the Consignment shop down the street and sold the items for 3-5 times the price I paid. A woman's dress bought for $1 sold for $10...I get half the selling price with this particular consignment shop. So I earned $5 on this sale...a $4 profit. Not too shabby.

It sounds like you have a good *eye* for buying the right stuff.

Good job. when my DD was little I did this one year and earned $1000.
If you get suits, christmas dresses, coats for kids the profit is high. This was when you got 50/50 at resale shops but I bet it still would be a good internet sideline. I just used it to pay for all DD's toys,b-day presents and clothes.

Almost all our cosignment shops went out of business. I suspect it was because they were being less than honest in sharing the profits with the people providing things for them to sell. I would see some clothing priced very high so I brought in a lot of like-new jeans and things I knew would sell for more. I only received about $20 for over 100 items of clothing, a lot of it bought new. I stopped taking my things there. Obviously other people did the same because they went belly up.

I know people who will go to G2 (where you buy clothes by the pound) and they would sell them on line or in thier own shop.
What a great deal ($1 a bag) you got by the wayKaty

WTG!
I have a friend that has an eBay store. He sells used men and boy's clothing. He know what sells and hits the thrift stores on a regular basis. He generally buys for $1 or less and sells for $10+. He occasionally hits the jackpot and buys an item for a couple of dollars and it sells for $50-$100.Mary
