Thumbs up Great Finds This Weekend

I go out each weekend and check out sales/clearances/yardsales/thrift stores. So far this year I have not done very well for my nieces and nephews Christmas gift bags. It's a strict $10 and toys are just not being clearanced to my budget. Well, today I hit the thrift store at just the right time. They had a 50% off toys sale. All the toys were dirt cheap to start with and they were new in thier boxes. I ended up with:

A brand new barbie with acessories for.75 cents

2 toy collectable toy cars, one a London taxi, the other a '14 Chevy Royal Mail. They are part of the classic Vehicles from ERTL. They are a good size. Both .50 cents

2 supersize Mathbox tractor trailers both .50cents

1-8" lowrider supershots truck that has a revving motor sound for .75 cents

a 1995 Dunkin Doughnuts tractor trailer about 12" for $2

    an 10" oil rig $1

    a 10" rig $1

and an 2 ft. big rig $2

    Everything never opened, original boxes!

For my son's bedroom makeover I found:

    a old ceramic bird-very manly
a metal wreath of acorns and leaves
a log cabin piggy bank-real wood
    a ceramic Mallard Duck
    a bark basket

His $100 for his room redo is slowly dwindling. I'm still looking for a TV stand, a small desk, and a night table.

And for my bathroom redo (that I did not set aside any money for so I have to be EXTREMELY frugal) I found a beautiful tea light lantern done in the same type of tropical flowers I'm making my pictures out of, for $1.50! It has a tiny chip that I'll put a dab of paint on. Otherwise it's perfect. I'm still looking for a wicker bookshelf that I can paint black, maybe an old hula lamp, some old Tiki torches.

How much fun did you have today and Christmas shopping getting worked on? Good job. So much fun at the thrift shop when you find things you were looking for or wanted to get.

Yes Debbie, very happy to get some Christmas marked off my list. I was starting to get a bit worried about my nephews bags. It seems I can always find girlie stuff, but boy stuff is harder. And I only have 2 nieces, but I have 9 nephews. Sorry it was a zero in the thrifting department

And Pam, I swear I'm not sure if it's the thrill of the hunt or what, but when I find something that I've been hunting and it's a good price why I swear I could do a jig right there in the store! My cousin loves to yard sale with me she said, " I love shopping with you. You keep me grounded so I don't over spend." I never buy anything just to buy, I have my envelopes of budgeted money and I stick to plan with little chance of a detour.

    Thanks ri*smom,gibblerkelly,Nana2two,

I thought they were great deals too! Totally love that I found toys in their original boxes. The lady at the shop said I had just missed it, there was a whole bunch more but a guy had just been in before me and cleaned most of that sections shelfs off. I'm really happy with what I was able to get though, I have know idea what I'm missed so I can't bum out about it.

Polly are you looking for "old" tiki torches for the old? The reason I ask is; Do you have a store by you called christmas tree shops? First time I saw it I didn't go in because I didn't need anything for Christmas. Then I found out its called that like it being Christmas everyday. They had tiki torches for $1 large ones and table top ones.

Oh Pam, I don't know but I'll have to do a web search. I want them to create a curtain rod in the bathroom. I was just hoping someone would have some at a yard sale inexpensive, they are $7.99 a piece at K-mart and $6.99 in a sales circular (another store) I was leafing through today. Way out of my budget. A $1 a piece sounds closer to what I was thinking. Thanks, I'll check it out.

Polly! You never cease to amaze me! You are just TOO GOOD...hee-hee! I'd love to come shopping with you. You must be one of them people who can "smell a bargain"!

I love what you found for gifts, but you know I'm watching the board here to see how your son's room unfolds. I just might be more excited about than you even..lol!

But your treasures sound excellent, and will fit in perfect with your planned scheme (which I can't wait to see, as if you didn't notice that). HA!

But great finds. I'd be dancing all over the place!

Wow Polly! That's an amazing list. I wish I had your eyes or sense for a great idea.
Today I managed to snag a storage unit for the cottage for $3 at a yard sale on our roadtrip. This is the first item I've purchased in at least a year. I guess it's a first step. Can I put you in my pocket and bring you with me next time?
