something thrift store shopping has taught me
The size printed on the tag doesn't mean much.
Daughter has clothing size 7 kids in pants up to a size 4 adult in a skirt. Shirt range from 6x to 14/16
And if a child likes a certain shirt they will wear it even if it is to big or too small. My son (going into 7th grade) has a character shirt that we bought at the Goodwill. He was wearing it yesterday at it was getting short. We thought about when we bought it We bought it at the goodwill(a little big) back when he was in first grade. So 6 years of wear from a second hand shirt.
Favorites are wonderful.

~Very true! I spent some time this morning sorting through and listing my kids clothes so I would know the gaps in their wardrobes and it's just crazy. DD has clothes in 24 months that still fit! DS is still fitting in some 4T's!
It's annoying that I can't trust the sizing. I just pick up things that look the right size, maybe a little bigger and hope for the best. Seems to be working!~~Constance

Very true - I try to try on, if possible.
Don't forget to check the men and boy's sections. I do all the time for clothing for me.

I have begun looking in the men's section for clothing for DH and DS for Christmas. Alot of time there are brand new pieces still with price tags (I guess the recipients didn't like them) but I will be grabbing them for gifts. Especially sweaters.... DH loves sweaters in the winter.

Oh Debcat- see if they have early bird specail 1/2 offs days. I went 2 weeks after x-mas and picked up tons of new tagged designer winter for 1/2 off S.A. prices. We got a lot of those quilted flannel jackets for $5.00 each when Gander Mt. closed their outlet store too.

It sure pays to check out all sizes. It seems different brands fit different.

What a Great idea!
I never thought to look then, I"ll add a reminder to my "sales" calendar.
Thank you!
Another thing to look for at the same time is candles. I bought tapers at the local supermarket around the 3rd of January one year, for .25 each . We've been using them up ever since.

I always have to try clothes on, especially if it's not brand new. They tend to be a little stretched.
