Anyone shop with www.shopgoodwill.com?
I have only bought a couple of things on this online auction, but the descriptions seem accurate, and there are pictures. I have browsed there a lot, and there seems to be a lot of variety.
Today, I bid on an alto saxophone for DS who is starting band this year. The description says it needs cleaning. If I win the auction, I'll have an instrument for DS and the case for $50. Plus the cost of having it cleaned. If I rented one over the course of the next 7 years, it would cost more than that...provided he stays in band till graduation. If not, I feel confident I can sell it in our local paper, which offers free ads.
I'll let you know how it works out. Cross your fingers that I win it!Wife to Kevin: 20 years

Yay! I won it! DS is so excited! My total came to: $76.65 with shipping. Not sure how much insurance will be. Even with that, it'll be under $100.
Y'all should definitely check out the site. It's like Ebay, but not as much traffic, and all items are for sale by Goodwill Industries rather than individuals.Wife to Kevin: 20 years

I have to tell you that my experience was not good -- I bid on and won a Dooney & Bourke bag. Now, they did say they believed it to be genuine, but could not guarantee it.
Unfortunately, when I received it, even I could tell it was a fake.
So, I don't trust their ability to describe things accurately.Last edited by Early Bird; 07-21-2009 at 09:12 PM.

I have once or twice, but I tend to find their shipping rates to be too high.

I've never heard of it either but I will check it out. On another note congrats on winning. I hope it is in good shape. My daughter played alto sax and we bought hers new through the school, $850.00, and this was over 14 years ago. I can only imagine what they want for them new these days, so you got a great deal as long as it plays.

Hope you enjoy your purchase! I've heard of it through a blog, but thought it was designer stuff ($$$+) only. I've noticed their shipping seems a little high, but I'd love to find a bargain. I wonder if they have feedback (like on eBay), so buyers know which stores (locations) are giving accurate descriptions & such.
