Default A new Goodwill in town -- I found some new to me clothes

I bought a preferred customer card $1. You get 10% off each time for a year (approx) Paid for itself today.

I bought shirts and sweaters were $3.99 cheaper then the Salvation Army in town

    I bought:
    2 Land's End "dressy" t shirts,
A Land's End essential fine gauge sweater,
And a full front zip blue sweater (Cherokee brand Target?)

    I'm happy!

I love browsing thrift stores. Lately I have been dropping off more than I have been shopping. Maybe I'll pay a visit INside next time I go!

    Salvation Army? What Salvation Army?
Just kidding. You just have to be disciplined when you go in.

    I've made myself some "rules"

It has to be something that I need.
    It has to fit great
Need to be really well made items
I have to really like it a lot (no "kind of" or "sort of "or "it will do") "It will do" only when is an immediate need like no long sleeve shirts and it is chilly
Clothing has to be tried on

Sometimes I "break' these rules for super neat finds (like the Samantha American girl doll patterns or Build a Bear clothing or the exact same sheets as Son has and loves and is wearing out after 10 years you get the idea) I probably would break this rule if I found a Longaberger basket at a great price. LOL

I love thrift stores! I work at SalvationArmy and it is very hard not to spend all your paycheck there. Have gotten some great deals though! They don't have a Goodwill store where I live but if they did you can bet I would be there having a great time too!

I bet it would be hard to not spend all your paycheck. My friends mother use to work there but had to stop because she kept spend to much of her paycheck there on toys etc for her grandchildren.

I went ot visit our SA a couple of weeks ago - building is really creepy, but it was fun looking around. found some picture frames for a project and some books. Don't think I'd buy clothes there just because nothing looked clean - not that it wasn't - just all the dust and dirt around. Guess I'm looking for a wonderful store full of all the goodies that you all so successfully find and list!!

Good finds and mahalo for sharing!!
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Just curious are there consignment stores near you where women are getting money for their clothing?

There are no adult consignment stores near me so if a lady doesn't want to have a garage sale she donates it to a church sale or the Salvation Army (now Goodwill too)

I've had very little luck selling items through consignment stores here. I do shop there some, but tend to get the best deals at the thrift stores. Good Will has dollar racks most weeks on certain days in my area. Couldn't hurt to ask if your's has them too. I love getting books as well (usually $2 or less). Another church thrift store has nice decorative items for very little, but not as much clothing. So I like to check out the different stores maybe once a month just to see whats available. If I go to often, I find too many great deals.

May Groceries $238/250 Pet Supplies $111/125
    Coupons $50.08
April Groceries $253/250 Pet Supplies $109/125
    Coupons $34

    Coupon Saving 2012 $165.61
    2011 $376.25

i actually do well at a consignment store here. they take 25 items at a time. i usually bring between 10 - 30. and she takes just about everything. the checks come the 10th of every month - the first one is usually about $80. i sell alot of dress clothing and shoes and purses.

everything has to be frshly laundered, on hangers and up to date.
