    Smile Beautiful Quilt for $1.30

    Short version of story:
Quilt at Goodwill priced 6.99 - 10 % off using preferred customer card - "$5 off $5 or more" coupon that arrived in mail = Quilt $1.30

    Long version of the story:

A $5 off 5 copon comes in the mail from the Goodwill. I head over and can't find anything so I save the coupon. I head back an another day, still nothing.

Little Miss mentions that she is cold at night. The closet was empty of blankets. I noticed that her top quilt was getting really faded and worn thin (she hadn't mentioned that). So I was thinking on what to do.

Meanwhile I head back to the Goodwill with my mom, who was in town for a visit, plus my coupon was set to expire. I figure I wouldn't find anything since I had just been in a day or so prior. But I find a beautiful twin size quilt with bright colors (pieced flowers, dragonflies, butterflies) I check it over and it does have a stain (pink candy perhaps and a sticker on it) I mention to my mom the coupon and say the quilt would be only $1.30. She say I should get it even if the stain doesn't come out as it could be an under quilt and would keep Little Miss warm. So while she tries on her finds. I walk around and think on if I should get it or not.

Another mom with her daughter is sticking close to me and follows me around until I head to the registrar. I guess they had liked the quilt I was carrying around or had heard only $1.30. LOL

I buy it and head home. I wash it up speedy quick and it turns out wonderful no stain and the white fabric in the quilt is bright white.
I head back to splurge on the matching pillow cover another $1.30, figuring it's stains would come out as well. They did. The quilt and it's matching pillow cover look brand new. It also matches her room and Little Miss's personality beautifully.

I put them on Little Miss's bed and she comes home from school. I told her to check her bed. ( I put things I have bought there as well as laundry and things I have found laying around that need to be put away).

She beams with pure delight when she sees the beautiful quilt. She thanks me for finding it for her. She mentions in the morning that she was so warm.

It was without a doubt a good find. $2.60 for something Little Miss desperately needed and something beautiful that she loves. What a Blessing.

    ~Fabulous deals!
Weird about the people following you around. Although, Goodwill is the only thrift store I've ever been to where I've had people steal things out of my cart.~

It was annoying following around. I think they just wanted to be close in case I put it back on the rack.

My mom thought I was looking at things in another's cart, I showed her a recipie basket. Our Goodwill when they are putting things out for sale it starts in a cart. They tend to let it set for a while to let people pick through it before they set things out.

It was very lucky! The Goodwill just opened in our town and they sent out a coupon to every household in town as a grand opening present. It was a pleasant surprise.

I love Goodwill..... Congrats on your great find... We got about 4 GW within driving distance and we frequent them all the time as they get new merchandise in all the time.... I have found awsome deals there and do not buy clothes new anymore. I have gotten jeans for son that are $60-70 new for $5-7 and sometimes with tags on....

    Good job

I do have a question though. Knowing you could own it for $ 1.30 why did you question yourself about buying it ? And how come you did not buy the matching piece to it the first time ?

I know I second guess myself a lot lately. But the budget is tight and I want to make sure to get the most bang for the buck. When I find something I like, it goes in the cart or I hang onto it, untill I finally make up my mind about it. Lots of other bargain hunters out there looking hard for bargains also.

I did carry it around until I decided. I did put back the pillow cover because I didn't see any reason to have the matching pillow cover if the stain didn't come out of the quilt and the quilt was a under blanket. When the quilt was washed and came clean and was going to be the top quilt I figured I would head back and try to get the matching pillow cover. It was still there so I spent 1.30 more (got 10% off of that too)
