Default New job comes with new clothes.

Okay so I got this new job starting Thursday right. I forgot that I don't have any clothes for this job.

    Black Sneaker
    Black Pants
White button up shirt (for manager nights)

I am a plus size girl...20 in jeans. Every time I go to a thrift store I am in there for hours and never find anything in my size

But even I think Walmart is to expensive.

I have no idea where to get cheap but comfortable sneakers. I will be on my feet for 8 hours, and if I am cashiering, I will be standing in one place most of the time so I need something comfy.

    Any suggestions?

Don't buy cheap sneakers, get the best pair you can afford. Your feet will thank you.

You might have better luck with a white shirt if you look at the mens rack. Just have to get used to buttons being different. I've worn mens shirts for so long now it's womens buttons that confuse me.

I agree with the sneakers. Check Academy for good prices on good shoes. Supportive shoes can make the difference in day when you are on your feet.

Totally agree about the good sneakers or work shoes. One thing it dosen't pay to try to save $5 when you are going to end up in pain. You'll going to be just fine...take a deep breath.

For clothes, I would try the clearance racks at Kohls, Penneys, etc. I have found some great deals including pants for about $5.

I but 90% of my work clothes at Savers or Goodwill. As far as sneakers I agree with the rest to get good ones. I make no apologies for my $100 mizuno shoes because my bad back thanks me! My outfit may only cost a few $'s but I need good shoes to stand all day.

Terry Pratchett, British Fantasy Author, had a character named Sam Vimes who developed a theory of economics pertaining to how the rich managed to stay rich.

Sam was a guard - Night Guard specifically - and he walked the beat every night wearing boots who's soles were as thin as cardboard - often WERE cardboard sewn over the old soles. Sam eventually, through a weird twist of fate, married one of the city's richest women, and she lavished him with boots of such quality that he'd never need another pair.

And that got him thinking - here he was spending 1 dollar every 4-5 months for a new pair of boots, but his wife had given him a pair of boots that cost nearly twenty dollars - and he'd never, ever, ever need another pair.

Thus, according to the Vimes theory of Economics, one way to get and stay wealthy is whenever possible, only buy something once. Sometimes paying extra for quality is worth it.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Mind you - Sam Vimes ended up trading his expensive boots for a cheap pair because he needed the cheap soles to feel the cobbles under his feet. Sam Vimes had walked the city beat so long, he knew where he was in the city with his eyes closed.

So there's probably a moral in there too somewhere...
