    Default Thrift store personal shopper?

Today was my day to receive gratuitious fashion advice.

I was checking out from the thrift store fill-a-bag sale this morning. "Look here," said one of the workers sorting clothes behind the counter. "These are your size."

The the 3 volunteers led me back to the just-sorted rack and let me pick out whatever I wanted:

    J Jill cardigan
Tunic and pants, with European sizing
    Bechamel shirt
    Notations long-sleeve black knit top
    Banana Republic sweater for DD

The volunteer at the checkout charged me $5 for all of it.

Then, this afternoon, I went back for more shopping.

I picked out some clothes, chatting with a woman, Nancy, that I see fairly often at the thrift store. We drifted apart, but then I found a couple of summery print skirts. Nancy seems to have good taste, so I called out, "Hey, Nancy! Can you help me pick out some tops that would look good with these skirts?"

Nancy not only helped me find some tops that went well with the skirts, but then she helped me pick out about a dozen other items.

Tomorrow I plan to wash it all up, and try it on.

    What a wonderful shopping trip!

Cool. Good customer service and can't say I've ever experienced that here at our thrift stores.

Well, this is a tiny, profit-for-charity thrift store. Maybe 1/5 the size of a typical Goodwill. The same volunteers seem to work most Fridays, so, if I go every Friday, I get to know them.

What a wonderful shopping experience you had.

You have or are developing a relationship with the person there. I have found that when you do that you get great service any where, thrift store, Wal-mart, local bookstore.
