Default Legos at my Goodwill - I slurged for my son-

Are your sitting down? I asked Hubby that when I called to "confess" my splurge and how much I spent.

I spent a lot for me. And we normally don't just buy our children presents other than Birthday and Christmas. (trinkets sometimes at other holidays)

I paid $27 dollars for Legos at my Goodwill. Did I mention my son is a Lego Manic? Love creating new things constantly.

So when I spied this today I had to get them.

for my $27 dollars I got 9.5 pounds of Legos. Once home. I searched though the bag and it seems that they are all official Lego brand blocks and pieces.

And they are "cool" pieces like Shiny Gold colored bricks, some figures including Star Wars guys. A base plate that is a Moon Scape, space shuttle looking parts and a Moon lander car base (pull it back and it goes) several parts of the Racer sets, and a Lego key chain. etc.

So many different things, mainly specialty parts which are my son's favorite things. And so hard to just buy without buying a set.

He will be so excited. Hubby and I decided to use it for a reward. He will earn it when he has cleaned out this Lego drawers in his room of all the non Lego clutter ( like paper clips, old erasers, etc) you know things that just end up in draws and boxes, especially when a boy is tired of cleaning his room.

Wow Imagine! You must be in "Lego La-La Land"! We all know what the price of Legos are, so there's no denying it...you got an excellent buy there.

Your son is going to be thrilled! Personally, I might be tempted to split the 'loot' up into 2 or 3 batches, and spread out giving him them over a little period of time. That's ALOT of blocks!

I'm thrilled for you and your son !

I have been debating if I should split it up or not. As the part you "need" to finish part of a set might get split up. And what if the part that sparks ultimate thought and creativity is not given when it would have sparked the most creativity and thought.

Did that only make since only in my world?

Not only have you gotten a great deal - this is an educational/creative toy. This deal could lead to your son being an architecht, engineer or rocket scientist. Or it could just provide hours of fun!!! Can you tell I am a lego's enthusiast?

My son loves building toys too. I love to get him toys that spark creativity and make him use his mind. Good going! I would give him the whole box-that's just me, I can't contain my excitement.

If your son is old enough not to be overwhelmed by the bounty, I think I'd give it to him all at once. Everyone deserves a windfall once in a while. You know how excited we all are when we buy a zillion boxes of something useful because we had coupons and a great sale!

My son ( now 13) says he wants to be an architect. When he was little he wanted to grow up and build for Lego World. LOL

He started with a baby Legos at 6 months of age or so but truly feel in love with Legos at age Two when he got his first Duplo set. (The tube and ball/playground set and a starter box). He has advanced through sets as he has aged. He is on the Lego Robotics team at school.

Legos and building are truly are part of who he is.

He is 13. It wouldn't over whelm him at all.

I love the comparison between lots of legos and the lot of boxes of useful stuff with coupons

    I agree!

What a great find for you, and I'm with everyone else who spoke about how Lego's promote creativity and learning.

    Excellent!

I'm letting him look through the bag right now (although he doesn't receive the Legos until he has earned them)

    He is very excited

He has found so far with the quick look I let him have:
A Lego Obi-wan with a light up sword. He says it is "Rare"
The Pull back Moon Lander that only turned right (which he fixed in 1.5 seconds. Just needed a brick adjustment.)
Oh and the piece he has been needing to finish that thing he was making earlier.
    Loves the Shiny Gold bricks.

And that was just with the quick look he got.

He says he can't wait until they are officially his.

I bet he has the Lego drawers cleaned out pronto ( Dad said he also had to clean and disinfect it all too)

I remember when my DS was into Legos, especially the Star Wars ones. He would've been thrilled with a find like that. Good shopping, it sounds like you got a great deal!
