Free Clothes, where do you get them?
~When I was a kid, we often received a big bag or two of clothes from people in our church. We'd pull out what we wanted and pass the bag on. A lot of churches still do this.
There's also Freecycle if you're lucky enough to get the offer.
Any other sources for absolutely free clothes?~~Constance

We get free clothes from relatives, but no one thinks of it unless you tell them. My mother and daughter and I are all the same size, they love shopping and I hate it. Nearly all my clothes are their castoffs.

We get hand me downs from friends.
There is a free store in a church here. We don't go there as we feel it is for truly needy. Anyway, they can get a outfit once every month or two weeks."Everyday as your walking down the street, everybody that you met has an original point of view" -Arthur PBS

Between our wonderful church family, family and friends. I never seem to have to go out and get much. God has truly blessed us.
If my kids clothes are still in good shape they get passed along to someone else.

DD gets clothes from older cousins. DH got clothes from his dad. My inlaws have massive walk in closets and hadn't cleaned them out since they moved in their home in 1997. Some of the things that cycled to us included the shirts we gave FIL the last 2 years for Christmas, so technically we paid for them, but ya know, lol.

Yard sales can also result in some free clothes, lol. Clothes just don't sell around here that well, especially when they're WAY overpriced, so by the end of the day, most homes will give a bunch away for free.
When my neighborhood had its annual sale in May, I got rid of EVERYTHING. I didn't think I could pay someone to haul off the massive amount of clothes we still had left, even though they were in excellent condition and priced reasonably...there were just too many. Some man snapped them up even before the tape adhered on the FREE sign, lol. He was going to take them all down to his church's free clothes program. However, he was nice enough to allow a lady there to pick out a few things for herself and her baby before he packed it up.
Last weekend, I scored a few free deals for my son. We stopped at a yard sale and bought some board games. They had a ton of little boy sized shoes...but they were still too big for my son, so I didn't want to get them and find out later he couldn't wear them, or wouldn't wear them. As we were packing, the lady ran up to me, and gave me three pairs just to get rid of, lol. One was a pair of fairly worn flip-flops, but the other two were a pair of Nikes, and a cute lil' pair of "work boots." If they don't work out, they'll be donated to someone who needs them.

Oh, just thought of something for me...most of the time it isn't entirely free, though...
I LOVE Lane Bryant, and shop there for my work clothes. I get a lot of coupons in the mail. My favorite is the Spend $15, Get $15 off. If I'm super low on funds, I can usually find a nice top on clearance, or some underwear, and get it for completely free. But...the coupon goes up the more you spend. I just recently had a huge shopping spree, and got $225 worth of clothing for $140 (had the $75 off $225 AND a $10 gift cheque coupon), plus I got a few "Real Woman Dollars" to take off of my next purchase. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to make another purchase after that spree, lol...so they were forwarded to a friend, lol.

My father in law gives me a lot of clothes. I'm not sure where they are all coming from, as his closet isn't all that big, but I wear the majority that are given to me.

Our city has a clothing giveaway every year. They collect clothing donations for a while and then set it all up in a community center and anyone is welcome to pick out whatever they want. I've never gone to it because I don't really need to.
They just had it a few weeks ago. From the news coverage it looked looked like some folks were helped out a lot from it. Especially kids needing school clothes.
When I lived in Wyoming my favorite thrift store had an enclosed porch that they put all the free stuff in, lots of clothes. They had another large area where everything was 10 cents each. I got a lot of good stuff there!

There was an ad in our local "happenings" paper that had an ad in it saying that a local thrift store was giving away kid's clothes between certain hours. I was surprised to see it, but glad considering it's back to school time. There was also a hair salon giving free haircuts, 3 Saturdays in a row. I can't even imagine how much of a turn out they got. But nice to see the generosity for a change!

Growing up I got hand me downs from family and friends. Then any clothes I grew out of that were still good went to my cousins.
Some thrift stores would let you work a day for x amount of hours in exchange for some clothes. Not sure if they still do that but it may be an option.
If you live in a neighborhood where there are a lot of kids of varying sizes you could arrange a clothing swap with your neighbors.
