Okay ladies, here is my weakness. Besides quilting stores, these are my favorite stores to visit. I could spend hours in them and literally have while dh sits in the car waiting patiently for me.
I love any time of antiques and although I can't purchase many, they have so much history to tell. I often wonder just what they would say if they could.
I don't even care if I can buy or not, like you I wonder about the people who owned the peices, how many times the piece was moved, how it made its way to the antique store....what it will be used for in the future....
Too bad we don't live closer, we could really have some fun getting into trouble.
PS....I know better than to even walk into our Quilt shop! I can leave an antique sitting in the store....Patterns and fabrics are much more difficult to leave behind.
I used to have my own antique business. I just love old things. My house is full of old things and I have my inventory from my shop in storage. I still go to look though. I love the antique malls the best. Lots to look at and so many different tastes.

I love antique shops. I really enjoy co-ops too. I get really excited when I go to anyplace that has antiques and collectibles. It can be a huge show at the convention center or a little garage sale, flea market, or estate sale.
I used to resell collectibles and I miss it terribly. I loved the excitement of estate sales when I would line up outside with our numbers waiting. LOL
My fun with antique shops is really digging through to find something they may have overlooked and marked too low.
I need an "antique-ing" buddy now that I have moved.

I used to dabble in consigning antiques and collectibles at a local antique store (has gone out of business now). I to can spend hours in antique stores and so can my boys! We actually have planned our driving routes on our vacations to stop at some of our favorite out of state antique stores to see what treasures that have added since out last visit.

I couldn't have said it better!
I grew up with parents that loved antiques too and did antique fairs.
My mother found an old black chain in a button box at a jumble sale once and bought it for 2p (not sure how much that is in cents?) anyway she took it to have it cleaned and it was a victorian rose gold muff chain!!!!!!!!!! The jeweller offered to buy it from her for £400 and that was approx 25 years ago! She had to abort her shopping trip and go home to sit down LOL.
