A funny moment regarding thrift clothes (funny to me anyhow)

Two coworkers and I are chatting. The one coworker points to the other's coat emblem and says, "oh, what's that company?"

In shock I exclaimed, "Oh no you READ those? Emblems on shirts??" They both laughed heartily at me asking why. I told them with all the clothes I get from Freecycle who KNOWS what's on my shirts!!

They are good friends so they just laughed and laughed about it and we made up funny company names that might appear on our clothes.

I am never self conscious wearing thrift! Sometimes I do have to buy stuff new and it makes me almost sick to my stomach. So For those things I ask for gift cards to the stores for Christmas etc. DD loves thrift stores as well. Except the only thing she likes to wear right now are stretch pants. She has long legs and is slim so she says pants don't feel right. I can't find them at thrift stores because they wear out so fast.
Like I once heard a comic say you only hear people say see this shirt bargain cost me 7 dollars. He said if you hear someone say see this shirt 200. He said people would look at you like you were mad and slap you!

Nope! I love wearing nice clothes. No one has to know where I got them from. My Aunt used to say 'Macy's' when people would ask her where she got such nice clothes. We never had a Macy's in our area. LOL! That was our code for Goodwill.

I love Liz Claiborne and Ralph Lauren and I can't afford their stuff otherwise. Luckily, there is someone in my area who wears my size and brings Liz and Ralph in to the GW. I feel fortunate to be able to afford the GW prices. We have the money to buy retail, but I wouldn't be able to buy complete outfits for the money.

The GW is actually the only store my Mom and I don't fight in. Funny, ain't it?

    Red face Me too

Sometimes I re-examine my clothes to see if I am in style or not. But since I get so many compliments on what I am wearing, I just let the feeling pass.

Hahaha! ME TOO! I overheard a conversation the other day where a fellow teacher was bragging that she budgeted $200 a month for clothing for four people. That's $2,400 a year on clothes?? Give me a break!

I love finding out what the latest color is for the season. Then I head to the thriftstore and pick up on or two tops in that color. Makes me feel like I am in style but still saving money.

No, in fact I like to talk with my friends about our thrift store scores.
