Default The difference of Goodwill prices.

I've read a lot about the good deals people get at their Goodwill's and I'm always amazed at the price differences across the country. The one I go to most often and is closest to me a pair of jeans is priced $7.49 a pair but when I go to KY the jeans are only $3.00 a pair. Blouses at the one closest to me are $4.29 each and in KY $2.00 each. Books here in TN are ridiculous in price at the Goodwill.

The one closest to me here in TN just keeps going up and up on prices but they do have sales. Wednesday's is 99 cent day for clothes and shoes on the color of the week items and hard goods on that color are half off. You have to get there early to get any good deals though. The ones in KY don't have sales on their stuff.

Just wondering what its like in other states.

Prices have gone up here in northern Minnesota and they do vary from store to store, but all still seem quite reasonable.

~It's $7 and up for jeans here(most are marked 10), $6 and up dresses(10 again), $4 and up blouses(most marked 5), $2 and up kids. Books are $1 PB and $2 and up HC.
Our GW has 2 half price tag colors daily.
Ours is huge and has a lot of really nice brands in good shape so I don't mind that it's on the expensive side. I just shop the sale tags.
When they first opened our GW the kids' clothes were $.99 and they sent out coupons with % off purchases. The good old days! ~~

I have yet to buy clothing at ours. I find it prices for the stuff high for second hand and I've never noticed discount days.

I have purchased VHS tapes for DD @ $1 each.

Off the top s of my head I think these are the current prices
Children's clothing is $1.99 for tops, and bottoms, dress
    a set ( has a top and a bottom) is $2.99

Adult tops, skirts, shorts $2.99 jeans and dress $3.99

    Coats $10.99

    Color tag is half off

And you can get a discount card that gives you 10% off even on top of half off color tags.

These are similar in price to the Salvation Army Thrift Store in town.

The ones in my city (central Alabama) are priced pretty much like the ones you mentioned for KY. As far as discount days or any other sale/promotion they may have, I don't know that they do that here.

Jeans and shorts run in the $3 range, shirts in the $1.50-$3 range, books are $0.50-$1, comforters $2-$5, shoes $2, purses $2-$3, dresses $3-$5, formal gowns and wedding dresses $20-$35.

I only stop in about once every six months or so. But, I did notice the last time I was in the price of purses went from all of them being $2, to a few at $2 and the rest were priced at $3.

The consignment shops, locally owned ones and chains/franchises like Plato's Closet are a little more expensive - jeans $10, shirts $5-$10, shoes $4-$8, etc...

I did forget to mention that here you can purchase a card for $12.00 that gives you percents off daily. Tuesday and Friday are 20% and the rest its 10%. My kids because they go to the local college there get 10%. If they are with me we usually can stack the percents and save more.

When we lived in CO, prices were good but not great. Here in MA, I can get better prices shopping the clearance racks than I can at the Salvation Army, so I don't make it part of my strategy. I do occasionally look if I'm there dropping off a donation.

Goodwill has different prices even in the same state. If I am at the meat market, I stop by the one in Quincy, and the prices are higher than the one in boston. I saw some nice new blouses that were sold in the store for 8.99 and goodwill wanted 8.99??? I am looking for a cord for my rice cooker and a cord for a cellphone I brought for a dollar, so i keep stopping in. i don't like how the sizes are mixed in either. There is so much choice in Massachusetts that I am unwilling to work that hard at a thrift store.

Depends on the type of Goodwill in my area. If I'm at Goodwill then prices are pretty standard $5-10 shirts & pants/jeans, Goodwill in poor sections of town are a bit lower. BUT if I hit the 'GW Boutiques' (affluent areas--call it that) the prices sky rocket! But to be fair the clothes are all current name brands.

Jeans are $7.99 at the local Goodwill stores. I'm not sure of the prices on other things.

I don't mind digging through clearance racks at other stores (Kohl's, JCP, Target, ON, etc.) but it's not the same at Goodwill... The prices are so close to what I can find for new at other places on sale or clearance racks.

In my area the goodwill pricing is $4.99 to $9.99. Lately i have done better shopping off the clearance racks at Kohls and Bass shoe. Lately it seems my area goodwills don't have my size or the clothes are in rough shape.

At my Goodwill in Holland, Michigan jeans/pants are $4.99, tops are $2.99, shoes around $3.

I must post that shortly after browsing the Goodwill, I stopped at Old Navy and found racks and racks of 75% off clothing and found a pair of black pants to purchase for $2.75.
