    Default Back to the stores

In the last month, I went to two clothes give away. I was blessed to find out about both of them. I found in a combined total, 20 tops, 3 pants, one dress, 6 purses, 6 pairs of shoes, two wallets, 4 belts, some I can use to make jewelry of. I have not been to the Goodwill since they started raising thier prices. I might as well start going back to the stores and waiting for the sales. I don't understand Goodwill any more. They know that people are hurting with job lose or not job at all. In these time we need to trying to help one another. I donate back to the same churches that give away the clothes, than take my stuff to GoodWill.

My pocketbook doesn't like that Salvation Army and Goodwill have raised their prices but my head understands that their electric has gone up too. And that there is generally more need for their help and that they use their thrift store to generate that money.

I like the church give away idea. We have those here too. I do not attend those as I want to save those outfits for those that are more in need than us.

I do except hand me downs given directly to me I always pass them on when done.

    ~Great job!
I haven't been to our Goodwill to shop for several months. I try to go to yard sales instead this time of year.
I'd rather pay $.50 on something I have to do a minor alteration to than $6 at Goodwill.
Their prices are unreasonable if you aren't shopping the 50% off tags.~

My husband broke his leg a couple of months ago and is still in rehab because of some complications, including additional weight. It will eventually come off, so I've been trying to buy the large clothes he needs at thrifts or on clearance, since he will only need them for a few months. I was a bit suprised at the prices at Goodwill, though still better than buying new. But Salvation Army was the best - I don't have one close to home, but there was one that I could do an extended lunch hour visit to from work - I got a bunch of shirts and shorts for around a dollar, in excellent condition, some Lands End and Izod, a few with the original sales tickets still on. I know both organizations do wonderful work and I do support them, but given that a lot of his clothes disappeared for a while at the facility until we got it sorted out, I just need to watch the expenses carefully, and SA really came through for me. They were having a 50% off sale a couple days after I was there, but it was on a Sunday and I did not want to drive that far, although it would have been a great shopping day. Not too much for me, I'm afraid, but I was very grateful for what I found.
