    Default our thrift shop adventure

I took DH out with me this morning to make the round of thrift shops in the area and check out the new one Palooka told me about. There is a cluster of them in an area north of me so I picked 7 to visit.

DH did most of the buying, he got himself some electronic light gadget for $2 and a wood plaque for 25c at the first shop. At #2 he picked up two South Beach diet books for $2.50. At #3 he got a dress shirt, NWT for $8.50 (which I think is outrageous, but still so much better than retail) , some more wood plaques for 49c-1.98, and another electrical thingy which was $4. Shop #4 I found a cute top for $4.99 and DH got a book at 2.99.

At this point he was starting to wilt so I had to take him for lunch.

We hit the Salvation Army after lunch and picked up a small crock pot for making oatmeal in, and an electronic timer for it. I decided to skip one store, and we finally ended up at the new Thrift Mart Palooka told me about. He found a computer thing for $10.

Overall it wasn't a bad haul, though I am shocked at current prices! I haven't been thrifting in several years, and I remember clothing priced at 1.98, and books and bric-a-brac going for 25c to $1. Wow, I guess those days are gone!

The only bad part of our day was after the last shop, on our way to Joann's for craft supplies... An ambulance went by in the opposite direction and I pulled over and stopped, because the car in front of me stopped, and unfortunately the woman behind me wasn't paying attention and plowed into us ripping the bumper off our "new" car. ARGH! No injuries, just an hour in the hot sun waiting for the police, who were in NO hurry to get the paperwork done.

Sounds like your DH had a great time and you found some fantastic deals! Sorry to hear about your car though.

    Thanks for the laugh!

Another amazingly stupid driver on the highway of life. You wouldn't believe how many dumb drivers around here refuse to pull over for an ambulance or a fire truck with horns and lights blaring.

~Sorry about your car but an entire day of thrifting sounds like so much fun! I was pretty shocked by the prices last time I went out too. Sad when you have to wait for sales at a thrift store.~
