    Default Omg!!!

DD12 had been advancing in her piano, and has outgrown our little keyboard.

So I started looking for a digital piano. I don't have the time, finances and patience to maintain a piano. Our micro-climate within the home would wreak havoc on a piano. Ie- extremely dry in the winter, very humid in the summer.

So I shopped online. New would be out of our budget. I looked in our local classifieds. There was one listed for $300. I did a search, even as old as it is, in other places it was being listed at over $1000-$1500. EEK. So I booked to go see it.

When I got there, the foot pedals weren't working consistently. Tells me a contact wasn't right. So I offered $250 for it. They said yes.

I get home, take a look at the pedals. They felt around the pedal had come loose and bunched up. I removed it, and with a little tweaking with my foot, it plays consistently. I should be able to fix it with the chair foot felts. So for $1 it's fixed and I get myself a keyboard worth $1000+

    So happy

Good deal! I love finding stuff that's "broken" for cheap and fixing it up.

My wife wanted a treadmill a few years ago, and a guy at work had one he was trying to get rid off. It would keep shutting down after 5 minutes or so, he thought it needed a new control module. He had talked to customer service about it, and that's what they figured.

I gave him $100 for it and took it home. Pulled it apart and found that it was stalling on a "current limit" protection. Did a little searching and found that the belt was too tight. I stretched it as best I could by tightening it up a bunch more and letting it run with no one on it for a few minutes. Did that a few times, then backed off the tensioners. Ran perfectly for 5 more years. $1500+ treadmill for $100.

Good job on the digital piano, keep encouraging your daughter!!

We got a nice treadmill too...lol On freecycle. It said the computer was fried, but the motor ran fine. SO we picked it up, brought it home, to find out it needed a battery for the panel to light up. So a great find For a little manpower and gas, we got it working for $1 battery

Love these kinds of finds/bargains. A friend got a treadmill for free for his wife and replaced a $6 part. She has been using it religiously for several years.

Nothing wrong with my treadmill when I bought it used. But it was over $1500 new and I paid $300. Works great, had lots of bells and whistles that all work too. Found the manual online and printed it for free.

To make this deal even sweeter, I just sold the old one for $200, meaning the new one cost me $50. The old one was given to us, so we're really only $50 invested into the piano..lol
