Like many of you, I have not shopped at the mall in years. I just recently started going, because I think GW has gotten a little high. I have been shopping at Kohls with coupons, at the clearance racks. I have been shopping at TJ on the clearance racks. Sale, discount, clearance, free are my middle name.

Great finds at the Thrift. I Love the thrift. I've never in my life pd 100 dollars for a pair of jeans. I think the most I've ever pd was around 20 to 30 for new jeans and that is a lot for me too pay. TC and Hugs

I don't care about having the latest fashion, but I'd rather pay $100 for a pair of jeans that fits perfectly and last 4-5 years than get 10 pairs of ones that are "just ok" for $10 at Goodwill. And I *ALWAYS* try stuff on. I used to work for a clothing company and know more about the manufacturing process - so if you actually care if stuff fits well (as opposed to just "fits"), by all means, TRY EVERYTHING ON.

At least around here, a lot of thrift stores have items that are stained or torn. By the time I weed out the stuff I won't wear, I've already spent over an hour. And the prices are sometimes more than I can find on the clearance rack.

I do realize a lot of it is regional/situational. The SA near where we lived in CO was awesome, and that was my pre-baby body so I was a totally different size.
I have the same issue. When I was a size 2-4, I had no problems finding great quality things in thrift stores. But now that I'm a more popular size, I can't find anything nice in thrift stores, Craigslist or my local Bookoo. If I need to buy something, I'm willing to spend a little more if I know I'll wear it often. I have some clothes that I still wear 10 years later. I may have spent a little more on them up front, but I don't have to replace them often.

However, I'd love it if I could have bought them second hand. I've been pretty lucky in when I need a piece of clothing, I can usually catch a sale online and then find some promo codes

I loathe shopping for clothes. Anywhere. I always have, from the time I was a child. Waste of time, waste of money, both of which could be spent so much more enjoyably.

Why can't we all just have nice fur like cats?

I like Silver jeans, but they are $$$. I would NEVER pay $100+ for a pair of jeans. However.....I have found them on the clearance rack fairly often in one of our mall stores, for $15-$20/pair. When that happens, I buy them. Why not? Walmart jeans cost that much...but Silver looks good on me. And if I find them at a thrift store or a garage sale, even better!!!

Good for you. I'm one of those ladies who does the boutiques and Goodwill. I like to buy clothes that are cute and fashionable, but also a good deal.

I changed my eating/exercise habits a little over a year ago and lost 115 pounds. I had to go through a few wardrobes during that time. Would've broke the bank if I'd have bought brand new. I'm a huge thrift store shopper. I do try jeans/pants/coats on when I shop for them. I do take the time to check buttons, zippers, seams, and for stains. Around here, I can get almost new (sometimes new with tags) brand name jeans for 5.00 a pair. Bought a pair with the tags still on from the mall saying 80.00. Used to get my sister's hand-me-downs (she's a mall shopper, too) but now they are too big. Glad to hear you find what you need for way less, too! And, by the way, black sheep are a bit of all right!

I live in a rural area and have to drive 2 hours to get to the mall.we have a JC penny's 30 minutes away. I am a size 18 which u can not find at thrift stores here believe me I look. yes I do have a few name brand jeans they look good on me and lift my butt and hold in the tummy probably paid 40 -50 on sale.
I wish i could find something for my self bigger people here do not get rid of their clothes. I always pay more for mine than hubby's... Very envious of anyone who is near a good used clothing store...
