Goodwill Outlet

Dh and I had to be in the city yesterday for a work event of his. We went early and hit the Goodwill Outlet. For $37 we bought a total of 95 items, which included 3 winter coats (two of which are wool), a pair of snowboots, a replacement planter for our yard (I ran into the one we have right now and cracked it), a pair of high heel ladies dress boots, a backpack, and tons of clothing. I managed to find something for every member of our family of nine. 80% of what we bought was clothing.

Love this place!

Oooo... We love the Goodwill Outlet stores. Everyone here calls it "the bins". You get a group of friends together and everyone swaps lists and everyone looks for things on everyone else's lists. You just plan on spending an afternoon there.

Yes, we were there for at least 2 hours. It gets crazy when they roll out a new bin. Dh and I just stay away until the crowd thins. There's nothing we need badly enough to dive into that!

My original post should say $47 instead of $37. I didn't catch the mistake until it was too late to edit.

Our Goodwill is not all that great but our St Vinny's is awesome (or should I say used to be awesome before the rest of the world started thrifting)

Funny about the people going crazy over the bins. St Vinny's opens at noon each day and the people start lining up before 11. There is one group that brings their lawn chairs and sit at the door (like they are waiting for concert tickets or something).

It's quite a site really when they open the doors (it's like black friday every single day there)...you keep moving quickly or you will be trampled and you have to literally grab the stuff off the shelves as you run up and down the aisles.

It's funny but quite sad too the way people act anymore...

The outlet is so great I have found so many great deals there. Now I think the Regular GW is too high.

Oh My Gosh did you do great! I've never heard of GW outlets. I think I need to look them up.

My friends and I weigh each of our purchases and then combine them to get a lower price per pound.

There are very few GW outlets, like a half dozen in the whole US.

When we lived in Minneapolis, the main SA store had bins in their basement. Nothing was marked and the prices were negotiable. Everything was dirt cheap. Amazingly, back in the eighties I once found a new base for my Oster Kitchen Center, shortly after the original one had died. In all that stuff, there were no other KC parts at all, just that. It was weird. I paid $1 for it and still use it. It was even the right color! At the time we were a family of ten, there was NO spare money, and we really needed our Kitchen Center, so it was a real godsend.

I have a TS just up the road/street from my house. don't go as often as I would like simply because I always find something- not necessarily something i need. my mom told my dd that 'mom should take me- I get senior discount' lol I told her I would when we needed something.....

Goodwill is awesome, I have been there so many times and gave gotten great things to furnish my home. You want a way to save money on items you need, Goodwill is a great place.

I LOVE the Goodwill store, but the closest is 1.25+ hours away- have never heard of their outlets! Working on loosing weight over here, yesterday sat down, wrote up my goals for how much by when- one of my 'prizes'- when I hit a size 10 I'm going on a $100 shopping spree at goodwill! Sounds like if we only has an outlet around, I could buy enough clothes to last YEARS! Even for $47, what awesome finds you have!

I too miss the days when thirfting was uncool and there were far less of us doing it!

I was surprised to do a search for regular GW stores in South Dakota and Wyoming and not turn up one in either state.

I don't go very often either because it's in the city 2+ hours away. Due to the economy, dh has been working in the city weekdays and coming home on weekend for several years now. He checks the
outlet often, but not for clothing. Sometimes he finds things to resell for extra cash. I'll go 2-3 times a year for clothing. When I went last summer I found a ton of winter clothing for my older boys.
