Default Thrift shopping : Why did I not think to look for that?

The lady in front of my at Goodwill check out was buying jar candles (Yankee and other brands) hardly used ones for $1.49 before her frequent shopper discount Which today would have made them $1.19 each

Oh and I bought my favorite style and brand of pants at the Goodwill today $3.19. And the retail store I normally buy them at was out of my size in this color.

Yesterday I went to a different thrift shop on a whim. Turned out it was $5 bag day on all items priced under $8. So I spent a lot of time carefully filling a bag. I got 2 pairs of Alfred Dunner slacks, a Sag Harbor dress, a nightgown and 11 tops including several brand name items. When I got home I put everything into the washer without checking pockets because I've never found anything in a pocket from a thrift shop. As I pulled out one pair of slacks something fell from the pocket -- it was a vial of heart medicine. I then pulled a couple tissues from the pocket and shoved everything in the dryer. When I emptied the drier there was a $5 bill in the bottom, so my cost for all these garments was zero.

One of the tops I purchased is size 3X (I wear a medium). It is lovely fabric and I'm going to cut it apart and use it to sew a new top. Only down side is I've washed it twice and it still has too much perfume scent for my allergies. I even hung it outside to dry. Everything else is okay although three of the shirts needed two washings.

Congratulations on your shopping expedition. I worked in a neighborhood "coat closet" one winter and we all had good laughs over the "pocket finds" we found in the pockets - I found the car key to a BMW! Another woman pulled out a full sized stick deodorant!

I enjoy my thrift shops and here people put their things out by the road with free signs on them so it's fun driving around and getting alot of wonderful things.
