Wink Another chapter in the "Chris the scrounger" book...

    Hi Ladies,
Well this time he did not come home with a van but he did come home with 4 beautiful rose bushes! He is working for the same lady that had him drive her van the other day and she had him dig out 4 big rose bushes (one is a Peace rose) and then gave them to him. She has a professional lawn and yard guy there doing some other work and Chris asked him if maybe he needed some help next summer...well, looks like Chris just got himself a job doing landscaping and yard work for next summer!!!
Chris will be very busy this afternoon planting all those rose bushes deep into the ground and then mulching them so they don't freeze. I pray they make it through the winter. We lost our Peace Rose bush last winter to freezing.

WTG Chris. The best way to keep roses over the winter months is to water it really well at this time of the year. Trim back about, then cover with leaves right over top the whole bush. Then wrap in burlap. The lady from the local greenhouse told me that and I've done it every year with my roses. I've not lost one rose yet to winter kill.

Well done, Chris! It does my heart good to see a boy with such a fine work ethic.

I agree with CJ about the rose bushes, that's what they do here in our snow regions during winter.

Debbie, you and your DH have done a good job raising boys who know the value of an honest day's work. Many kids never learn that.

That job is right up Chris's ally! He's the one who likes to plant, right? Good for him and good for all of you to get those rose bushes.
