Default Having a Garage Sale This Weekend!

This weekend my DBF and I are having our first garage sale!! My parents always used to have them when I was younger, but this is the first one I am doing and the first one that I will be getting most of the money (a couple friends threw in some of their things too, which is fine because the more stuff hopefully the more customers). This is DBF and my first year living together and once we combinded all our things, we realized we have doubles. Also, our house is very small (one bed room, small closet, and only one other small linen closet) and we just can't store everything we had so we start making a throw out pile. When that pile start getting huge, I realized that we should just have a garage sale and at least make some money.

So I'm really excited. We have soooo much stuff, I'm thinking we have to make at a minimum $100 (I'm actually thinking more around $200 though). I'll let everyone know on Monday how it turned out!

Good luck. I bet you'll make more. We sold a lot of *JUNK* at last year's village-wide yard sale, and we made about $104. And when I say junk, I mean mostly all junk. My cookbooks were probably worth more than I sold them for, but most everything else was truly just junk, so I bet you make more....

Good luck with your yard sale. If you price it low enough people will buy anything.

Well the Yardsale went OK. I was kinda mad
The Middle School and a sub-division in town, (that were not the ones organizing the town sale) had their sales on Friday & Sat, they advertised alot in the local paper. So I think that most of the "Professional" Yard Saler's had been to town on Friday.

I was wondering, because you always have the "regulars" and I hadn't seen any all morning. Then I was talking to a neighbor and she told me about the Friday thing!! I wish thay would have stuck with what the organizers had put together

But all in all I didn't do too bad, $90 and I didn't have any big ticket items.

The organizers asked when I payed my $3.50 on the ads if I would be interested in a Fall yard sale and I said sure!!
So now I am planning for a fall sale!!

I forgot to update everyone on how I did a couple weeks ago with my first garage sale! It was two days and we made (after expenses) $160!!!

We did not advertise in the newspapers this time, but we have soooo much stuff left over (and more coming our way from family) that we are going to have a second garage sale in three weeks. This time we'll be sure to advertise better!

It was so much fun to talk to all the different people who came by and I didn't even feel bad about letting things go (I'm very attached to my stuff!).

Right now our garage sale earnings are sitting in savings waiting to be used for a chest freezer so I can start freezing leftovers and buying more in bulk.

I think I might be getting this "frugal" lifestyle after all....and it's actually kind of fun!!
