Thrift store find: I bought a pizzelle baker. Recipes anyone?
I took a load to the thrift store, and, of course, I looked around.
I found this:

She charged me $5, since it looks completely unused.
If I can get the hang of making pizzelles, they'll make great Christmas gifts for friends and neighbors. Here's a picture of what the pizzelles look like:

I also bought some 8 cloth napkins [6 of them are Laura Ashley], about 8 crochet hooks, and 2 decorative embroidered pillow cases.
My total came to $8.

Nice finds!
I'm sure you'll get some recipes before I get a chance to post, but if not, I will try to post some tomorrow night or Sunday AM (am working tomorrow then having guests over.)
My GM wasn't a big baker but always made pizelles, so I ave a pizelle maker. And I'm one of those kinds of people who keeps the boxes and manuals for things if at all possible, so I can give you the recipes right from my book. (Although your baker looks nicer than mine....)

this is the recipe my mom uses at the holidays, i believe she got it from BH&G a few years back
Cinnamon-Chocolate Pizzelles
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup margarine or butter -- melted and cooled
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
Stir together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and cinnamon. Beat eggs in small mixer bowl with mixer on high speed 4 minutes or until thick and lemon colored. Gradually beat in sugar on medium speed. Beat in margarine and vanilla. Add flour mixture; beat on low speed until combined.
Heat pizzelle iron according to manufacture's directions. Place a slightly rounded tablespoon of batter slightly off-center toward the back of grid. Bake according to manufacturer's directions. Turn wafer out onto to paper towel to cool. Repeat with remaining batter.

Thank you! I've been doing some internet searches, and, when I get good, I'm even hoping to make FILLED pizzelles.
DO you pronounce it piz-EL ? or piz-ELEE ? Or another way?2012 Knitting in progress

Yes, typically Italian cookie with either anise or vanilla flavoring, though other variations exist too.
